Hired the wrong people. When that changes it changes. Hoping that conferences outlaw competition so we can win is quite beta…and the fanciful version at that. We’ve been saying this for 14 years. Still in mediocrity and adding two good teams will make our clime even harder. Not a beta by any means, but I’m tired of losing and I want to win and win now.
I'd make a strong recommendation for everyone to listen to the latest Late Kick with Josh Pate podcast. I've put the YouTube link below, but it's available in podcast form as well. Really all you need is the first 20 minutes. I think he gives the best explanation of why this is happening, what is going to happen, and why he thinks it will ultimately be harmful to the sport we love. He is an SEC guy, but also a college football traditionalist. He says, essentially, that the pretense of amateurism is what has been keeping the sport together for the last 100+ years, and allowing the smaller players to remain on even footing with the blue bloods in these regional conferences (in the sense that they get to share in the revenue and be a part of the same conference). Now, with the NCAA off to the sidelines, the sport is going to start responding to market forces even more than it has before. There is only so much TV money out there, and you either go big or go home. The SEC is responding to this, and looking to become to college football what Amazon is to online shopping or Apple is to the smartphone industry. Texas and OU see this coming, and want to get on board. He says it may only accelerate from here, and eventually you may end up with CFB's versions of the NFC and the AFC. He doesn't think that there are enough big brands to support 3 super conferences, much less 4. He doesn't like it, neither do I, but I have a hard time saying that he's wrong. I guess the good news is that we'll be one of those brands that make the cut, but say a prayer if you are Texas Tech, or Kansas State, or Baylor.
Agreed. With 20 teams the SEC could split thus giving life to a new conference. Would love to see an SEC and an SWC once again. Just need to add 1 more Big 12 team and 3 from the ACC.Looks like we might as well create two football leagues. North and South. Divide the leagues into divisions. Have a playoff with division winners and wild card teams. Winner of each league plays the winner of the other league for all the marbles.
Oh... I think I just described the NFL.
Anyway, we're about to the point of needing a 4-team playoff for SEC championship.
He’s not been on since February, that’s the thing with this board there’s no way of knowing where he’s at. Wouldn’t think he got the ban hammer but you never know?@BaldBiker graduated from Sewanee that year…and I think that I am older than him…
So they keep us playing Bama every year, but Fl/Ga still avoid them and even lose their traditional rivalry with AU/LSU. Meaning Ga and Fl play one guaranteed tough game a year in each other, TN still gets screwed playing Bama every year and now AU also.

And what exactly is changing at UT so much that makes you believe we will make the correct hire if JH isn’t the guy? We got lucky that we had years of stability and moved from one UT coach to another. We have screwed up every hire since. I love competition, but when you are down in the dirt and clawing your way up, you don’t want to put boulders in the way.Hired the wrong people. When that changes it changes. Build the wall.@Freak
I know we have to be nice to new members but if Texas fans come to our beloved site spewing garbage and claiming to be the real UT bad things are gonna happen
