Good god Birmingham is going to ruin CFB 10 times over. Every other conference will vanish into the G5. Absolutely terrible for a "national" game.

If anything, the SEC needs to be stepped on. At what point does this reach being an antitrust issue? @VolGee4 Break Sankey and his money grubbing minions up. This is out of control.

Two things to count on: the SEC will make the biggest money grab possible, and most university presidents follow the money. It's all about strategically aligning divisions and scheduling games to maximize TV ratings. The opportunity to stack high-profile games across multiple networks and platforms will create huge ratings and result in massive payouts for schools.

The more big-brand teams the SEC can offer, the more televised content the conference will have and the higher the ratings/earnings potential. Every Saturday will be Super Saturday, and they can expand the weekend with live Thursday/Friday games and encore content the full week. Adding marquee brands increases the SEC's power, allowing the conference to negotiate more lucrative deals and exert more control over content scheduling.

Fans care about winning; school decisionmakers care about maximizing football wealth to fill many revenue buckets and support other programs and services, fund facility upgrades and expedite modernization and expansion plans. If ticket sales continue to decline, schools will come out ahead with the TV money.

Vandy should leave the SEC no matter what happens with OU and Texas. It's not a good fit for them and last year made it even more obvious. It would be more fair to their football athletes to play at a lower level of competition. The SEC should grant them a free exit pass, no questions asked.

I had posted yesterday about Vandy possibly going to the ACC. Hell, it may not be a good fit for Tennessee unless it becomes a consistent 8-10 game a year winner…

Gosh, that's sad knowing how Vanderbilt football started.

Not only should they stay, but Ga Tech should join too. At least they are Southeastern. It should be about region and tradition...AND BALANCE...not this bs "bRiNg MicHiGan caUsE thEy HaVe mOnies" nonsense.

If we ultimately end up with two thirty team super conferences or whatever, it's only going to help.

The power five being dominated by 7 teams is not helping CFB. Force the best teams to play each other every now and then instead of hiding in their bum conferences like OSU and Clemson do now.

I feel like this will be a bigger negative for fans in the long run. A lot of people will get agitated with losing year in and year out. Wouldn’t this eventually lead to losing money, especially if people stop watching. (Yes I’m aware people won’t stop watching 🙄😒)

Can we at least move to the ACC. Right now, I only see us ever being good in basketball/baseball, if these schools joins.

I guess I’m only looking at it from a fan perspective and not a money one.

There's a huge gulf between Tennessee and Vanderbilt. The University of Tennessee really wants to be very competitive at the top levels of SEC football, and even during this coaching fiasco of the last dozen years Tennessee still had SEC quality football athletes. Vanderbilt doesn't have that desire and unless Vanderbilt undergoes an institutional transformation, they never will be competitive in SEC football again. ACC maybe better for them, or even G5.

They've won a big 4 sport championship more recently than UGA has...

@LA Vol You have great insight into the innerworkings - what is the end game to all this money? It clearly isn't a competitive advantage when all your rivals are getting the same money, not to mention the teams below you getting a boost. And then there's a level of diminishing returns, which we probably hit years ago.

Is it, "hey as an administrator or coach I can now justify more pay"? Is it, "now we can fund more sports" or "we can build more lavish buildings"?

Do they get that funneling all of a sport's money into 1 group may kill off the rest of the sport? It feels the SEC is only looking out for the SEC and is ignoring the long-term health of a national sport.

It's not just an issue of winning a championship, it's an issue of making an attempt to be competitive in the sports where you field a team. Schools pick and choose which sports they want to field a team. If Vanderbilt could work out the finances it would be great if they stayed for some other sports and became an independent football program. But they are so far below the league in football that it's sad and unfair.

With our facilities, if we made a move to a different conference it would benefit us so much more. Move to the ACC, go 8-4, 9-3, or 10-2 every year.
Recruiting skyrockets, and we make way more money then we would getting **** on by OK, Bama, Clemson, Texas, LSU, UGA, etc. (if all these teams eventually move to the SEC)

This benefits other sports as well. We have really good basketball and baseball teams, among other sports. Imagine how good those teams would be if went to the ACC, or another conference.

This is my line of thinking as well. I wouldn’t be totally opposed to moving to the ACC. This sh*t storm that has been Tennessee football the last decade has been passed by, by programs that actually want to win titles.

With the resources we have at UT, we could make a Clemson type come up if we switched
