Wait til PJ sees you compared him to Fox News.....
That was my attempt to goad Jack into going off on a tirade and prompting a nasty email from the ivory tower.

Me and Jack probably won't agree on much on the political spectrum but we share at least two loves, New Smyrna Beach, FL and the Vols.

My wife’s family has a beach house in NSB. We were there last month

They were surrounded... it was either surrender and probably be slaughtered or fight to the death. There was no running.

But other than that, a decent metaphor.

Generally speaking though, the men at the Alamo ran into the battle and not away from it. Crockett went to Texas specifically to fight the Revolution.

Do not want. Super conferences look good on paper but it's diversity, regionality, and the uniqueness of each environment/school culture that makes college football special. Sucking all these schools into a super conference does not help things. They're killing the goose that lays the golden egg and they don't even realize it.
BINGO

100% Shortsighted greed, like the businessman that is willing to sell the very rope that's used to hang him.

So how many programs are seeing the writing on the wall and just handing out straight cash and negotiating NIL deals with recruits? Knowing the NCAA is treading water and lost their power?

I also suspect this is why Tennessee hasn't self-imposed anything. I don't think, at this point, ANY punishment is going to happen.
I'd bet strongly against this. Paying recruits is still illegal and was when it occurred. We literally told on ourselves, so it's not like we have an alibi either.

Why are "futurecasts" highly regarded?
Insiders from different fanbases who tend to at least communicate with the recruit or their families/coaches. Sometimes it’s saber rattling but the ones with successful prediction rates don’t endanger them with hasty random picks. The Michigan insider doesn’t issue this with faulty intelligence imo.

Exactly. We are already play the best program in CFB every year. We know what has to happen to get to that level. We see it on the field every year.

In past years the goobers in the tower on The Hill did not hire the right coaching staffs that could get it done. They were always afraid to spend the money. After it all cratered again and with better people in power finally, they hired one of the very best AD's in all the country who is pedigree and performance proven. Step one - check. He then brings his guy after talking to other possibilities nationwide, many of which refused because we have become a dumpster fire. His guy tho is the same guy that won a natty as a QB and hung 50 on us as an OC at a meh rival school who then because a successful HC - check. Said HC then hires a staff with an OL coach who hung 50 on us with a bunch of no name 3* linemen, a TE/OC who recruits a territory we have no had a lot of success in, a SEC rival's DL coach coveted by all of CFB who puts guys in the NFL as much as anybody ever, a DC who recruits a territory we have never done well in who is recognized as one of the best secondary coaches in CFB, and so on.

The Jimmy Johnson way that worked so well that he won a CFB NC and three SB's was to design your team to beat the best opponent on your schedule each year. A legendary NFL HOF head coach's method might be something we want to emulate. Check. Odds are good we will now compete at a higher level in a reasonable period of time by doing it OUR way, which is different than the Bammer way that Cornbread had us trying to do. Kiffin and Ogre showed everybody how to beat Bama as has Dabo. Outscore them in higher scoring games. Kiffin just did not have enough D to turn TD's into FG's. Ogre and Dabo did. We now have the O scheme to do that. Work on the D. Heup knows this. It's the same method he used at UCF. Force FG's by designing the D to be really tough to score on in the red zone. Then racehorse your O to score 45+ points per game.

Great times ahead for Vol fans with just a little patience in the transition.

I wish I could give you more likes for this! I share your excitement and think we are going to surprise a lot of people this season. The future is bright and we have a coaching staff finally that knows how to coach and have schemes that fit today’s football landscape.

I’ve got an idea guys. Hear me out. One mega conference:

Southeastern Division: Tennessee, Georgia, Vanderbilt, Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, LSU, Mississippi State, Arkansas

Atlantic Coast Division: Clemson, FSU, Miami, West. Virginia, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Duke, North Carolina, NC State, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Boston College

MidWest Division: Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan St, Rutgers, Purdue, Penn St, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Maryland, Iowa, Illinois

Pacific Division: Oregon, California, USC, UCLA, Washington, Oregon St, Washington St, Arizona, Arizona St, Stanford, Colorado, Utah

MidAmerica Division: Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa St, Kansas St, Missouri, TCU, Texas Tech, Baylor

I think that could work.

who the hell cares about tradition if you’re losing 8 games a year? I don’t get it. The people that say we’d look weaker by moving to the ACC- this is the same school that hired a loser coach from Louisiana f***ing Tech, a car salesman that rode the coattails of Brian Kelly, and a gump who doesn’t know what asparagus is. But THAT is what would make us look weak? Look at it this way. It’ll never happen, but if this super conference things begins to really take off and come to fruition, the ACC, the Big 10, whoever is gonna come calling trying to keep theirs alive. If they offer us satisfactory money, it would make sense. We’d win way more games in that conference, and ultimately that would cure all.
You could not be more wrong. It would be like the US just letting Russia have Alaska, without even trying to get it back.
