FootballHow could Clemson ever have gotten better than Bama while playing in the ACC?
Hmmmm….
Maybe our admin will get serious about winning. I want to play a big game every Saturday. And if we aren’t prepared to bring the heat I want them to get embarrassed to the point of fixing the problem. Sometimes you need to be forged in the fire. Don’t want to get our a$$ kicked ? Fix the problem on the field don’t run.Let's not forget the entire league will now happily call us UT-Knoxville or UTjr blah blah. Literally signing up to hurt our own brand.
I’m not sure who you’re quoting. My point is you don’t sneak around competition and win championships. You have to BE the best at the end of the season or you’re not going win…”rested” or not. No one can supply me the team that won in the playoff era because they were fresh…not the clearly more loaded/better coached team. Closest would have been the Bama team led by Jacob Coker against Clemson and Deshaun Watson. But they’re disqualified…cuz SEC and too much competition.I was following what I think was the logic posted earlier that you have to “play the best to be the best,” and that playing in the ACC is for losers, etc.
I personally still think playing 2 or so great teams in the regular season is all you need to get championship ready.
It’s going up to 12…eventually 18.There is no advantage for adding more good teams to the SEC with the current 4 team playoff model not sure how our fans are not grasping this concept, it has nothing to do with being a “coward” or “pride” for wanting a logical easier road. If it changes to 12 teams in the playoff then I am all for adding Texas and Oklahoma.
Other than on message boards where they don’t want to spell out the whole words, I imagine most fans of other schools in the league will simply refer to the schools as “Texas” and “Tennessee.” Do Finebaum callers regularly use “UT” when they refer to us? I’m my experience, it’s only people in each school’s respective region that refers to “UT” when the context is clear because of where you are. That also applies to people living in Toronto and Tampa when they refer to their local university.Let's not forget the entire league will now happily call us UT-Knoxville or UTjr blah blah. So, they call South Florida, UT in Tampa ?Other than on message boards where they don’t want to spell out the whole words, I imagine most fans of other schools in the league will simply refer to the schools as “Texas” and “Tennessee.” Do Finebaum callers regularly use “UT” when they refer to us? I miss the territories.I am not buying the tOSU and Michigan rumors. The B1G is the other superpower right now. They are making a killing with their network are likely to expand as well.
For those of you familiar with the history of pro wrestling, we are watching the collapse of the territory system occur in CFB. Next comes consolidation and the “Monday Night Wars” phase, with the SEC and B1G as the WWE and WCW.
