Of course I'm different as we all are. Main thing that apparently is different is I don't get my kicks by tearing people down....especially world class athletes who are performing at a level I never could.

Just because I've continued plays sports with a broken humerus, spitting teeth and blood and and a cracked radius that requires surgery doesn't mean that it compares to what professionals handle in pressure. Just means that my pain receptors don't always know when something is broken and pain threshold is high enough to keep going when I probably shouldn't.

I've also never had to compete in a sport in which I was molested by a coach and the whole world knows about it and is watching. If owning being the goat helped Simone get past trauma then good for her
Now you are just being self-righteous. She trained for 5 years for this moment. She dealt with all the same insecurities and mental issues from her past daily. She marketed her self as the Greatest Of All Time. Then she didn’t do well on one exercise and quit. That’s the bottom line.

I don't see any hate for her.

She was set up by the media and set herself up as the greatest gymnast of all time. She talked it up and so did everyone else.

When she quit I will bet that two things happened: Number 1, she cost herself millions of dollars. If I were a corporate sponsor there is no way I want her on my box of Wheaties. Number 2, she will never, ever get over the embarrassment of what this does to her career and reputation. I don't wish anything bad for her, but when you spend your whole life leading everyone to think this is your moment and then you say, "oh, never mind" people are going to look at you as either a quitter or a drama queen, just like Naomi Osaka.
Osaka is very different. She didn't quit mid match, she took a step back to focus on her health by declining to attend matches for a while (at least that's what I read, maybe I'm mistaken). She also didn't quit on a team mid match. Very different situations.

If it ever actually becomes a rivalry we have to find a way to get this idea to the higher ups! Sorry to inform you Weez, but I think you just peaked!
Meh. Someone else will get credit for the idea, but y'all will remember you heard it here first.

Assume the Vols are 14-0. They've identified the clear starting QB in Brian Maurer, who has kicked azz all season. I'm sure it would be OK for Brian to decide to sit out that national championship game because he is not in a good head space from something that happened in his life a number of years ago and which he had already overcome to win many big games afterwards.

Bunch of betas in here. She quit on her team. The mental issues did not just happen this week. Bow out before the Olympic trials. Give somebody else the opportunity to help the team's chances to win the ultimate.
Is he having flashbacks to Pruitt doing unspeakable sexual things to him? I could probably forgive in that instance.

My thoughts on Simone Biles, I'm disappointed we didn't get to see her shine and lead the U.S. to gold. I'll be that guy that admits it, I like watching female gymnastics at the Olympics. Not in a pervy way. Those young ladies often do amazing things. At least amazing to me.

I'm not disappointed in Simone Biles. She's neither a hero nor a villain, she's just human. I have no idea what was going on in her head, but if she couldn't overcome it, she did the right thing rather than risk hurting herself. As someone who has faced mental illness, I know what it's like not to be in your right headspace. In something like gymnastics, doing what they do, concentration is of utmost importance. One slip can cripple you. No one knows Simone Biles like Simone Biles.

I don't think we need to glorify her, but we also don't need to demonize her. What's done is done, and keyboard jockeys on an internet message board passing judgment on a young woman who's been through unspeakable things is just absurd.

depth is the more pressing issue. especially on defense. front line talent is good enough to compete with everyone not named FL, Bama and GA. win them all? nah, can't get there yet. win more than we lose? sure. for whatever reason i think 3-1 in the non conf, and 3-5 in the SEC is about right for us this year. anything better than that...graaavy.

it's year 1. AGAIN. it's just a lot of "new", and it's a tall order for it to all come together in one abbreviated off season for a new staff.

i think the bar is very low right now, and i think there's some fatigue out there as far as what fans "should" expect. not sure that's a bad thing at the moment, if i'm being honest.
Just wait til we are 3-0 going into FL and FL is still picking themselves up off the asphalt after Bama curb stomps them. 😎

Ya know that movie scene where Paul Blart the Mall Cop loses his cool and goes postal? I don't, but I'd imagine something like that.

Dude was fine for the most part, but definitely protective and just lost it sometimes unfortunately.

Always reminded me of that ole Pane di Mais poster. Except Gojira liked godzilla rather than Marcello Mastroianni.
Yeah he was a little too sensitive and a little too aggressive with his defenses. Negas and trolls reallyyyyy riled him up. Other than that he was a fine poster. Have wondered where he went for awhile now.

Oh I won't deny that... But right now... Clear head. That week... Assuming we're 3-0.. I'm sure I'll be in lock step with WGWTFA crowd.😉

You look stoned in that picture.
High on the amazingly beautiful world God gave us.

Or maybe it was this vortex thing they talk about out there. Supposedly there are places where you feel some sort of spiritual event when you’re there. Me, I just think it’s what you feel when you’re outdoors at a place that’s beautiful or special to you. Or maybe it’s just the breeze you get sometimes outside.

I’m not hating on Simone Biles but I will state this. Her own comments state that she gave up when it became too hard and she didn’t trust herself.

She even mouthed after her poor performance that “she didn’t want to do this anymore” that is quitting.

These actions shouldn’t be praised and it honestly took all of the glory away from her teammates who stepped up when she quit on them.

That’s my two cents.

I’m optimistic, but I do this every year. I just hope to see an explosive offense that can move the ball down field consistently. If we can maybe we can upset a few this year 🤞Pruitt and JG wore me out last year, it was miserable to watch
Exactly what I think.... Are we related or something?

She choked. Is what it is. Not the first and won’t be the last. It’s definitely a huge stain on her career. Some may not like it, but I hope she comes back and kicks ass in the individuals.

“Why do we fall, Bruce?” …

Didn't notice you in the picture at first. Then I realized that wasn't a fossil standing next to the lovely lady.

:)

@Catbone

You've been in my thoughts. I know in the past you ideated some depression. I like to tease, it's how I relate, but I hope you're okay. Sometimes life sucks. I know that very well. Sometimes we lose ourselves in our own heads, get down ourselves, and get down on life. I know that one pretty well, too. Keep your head up, and if you need to talk, people here will listen. Adversity shapes us into better people. Things will get better.
