i guarantee you no one is sitting at home wondering why biles took their olympic spot. no one.

I personally think it’s a bit ridiculous that Biles is getting this much backlash from reporters/fans/etc., if anything I think she should be commended.

She’s put her entire life into training for these moments. Probably hundreds of thousands of hours of training. She’s dealt with injuries and trauma in a very public setting. I’m sure she’s dealt with countless other setbacks and hardships we don’t know about/want to know about.

She knows she has what it takes physically. To have the humility to withdraw because she knows she doesn’t have it mentally has to be heartbreaking. Given the spotlight and scrutiny she’s under, I’m sure it’s not a decision she’s taken lightly. It’s a decision I’d say only a few people on earth can truly understand.

But I’m sure all talking heads and Twitter/message boards fully understand her decision since they played high school sports and things.

would everyone that keeps complaining about 10 scholarship reduction in one year .. please read back a few posts. It has been explained that this year's seniors do not count against the 85 total this year due to a one time NCAA Covid rule for 2021.

Therefore we can give back up to 14 scholarships in 2021 without losing any players on the current roster. It would be very smart for TN to self impose 10 scholarship reductions for 2021. Hopefully that would minimize any further scholarship reductions imposed by the NCAA in 2022 or later.

Don’t they bring alternates anyway? So she didn’t really take a spot and like you said who would have argued about biles going instead of them. Unfortunately we are going to see more and more
Mental issues from what has been going on in country, Covid, media/political fighting and social media/phones.

It's not purely about overall numbers. It's about the gap that it creates between us and other teams in the future with this being a completely new system on defense and offense. It may not be a death sentence for the program overall, but it's virtually a death sentence for the current coaching staff.

Exactly, there are alternates. If anyone is pissed because they got left at home its because they lost the battle to be an alternate.

We have a full 85 on scholarship (per the official UT roster) and that includes the seniors, so we probably have around 7 scholarships at most to penalize ourselves with this year.

How would they not? My wrestling coach used to say the beautiful thing about the state tournament is they schedule it a year in advance and they don't change the date for anybody.

His point being that talent doesn't matter... You have to show up, on that date, and compete. No matter what you are feeling like at the time.

Biles is no better than me at gymnastics as soon as she refuses to step on the mat. Any gymnast that is willing to go compete is going to wonder why she doesn't have that spot. Biles talent means nothing from the bleachers.
