Why do people keep talking about a 10 scholarship reduction in one year? That is crazy actually. Maybe 10 over a two to three year period, which is still extreme. I hope most people do realize that the McDonald's bag thing was pure bs. There were definitely violations, but I honestly think the situation was drastically sensationalized and overblown in order to get rid of Pruitt and Fulmer. We will see when everything comes out, but if things were that major, there would have been leaks already. Too many people have been fired that would have first hand knowledge for there not to be anyone that blabs the whole story to the media (see Arizona St.)

MJ misses buckets on an off night. Brady overthrows receivers. Biles could break her spine and paralyze herself if she misfires on a triple-double 12ft in the air. The risks are not the same.
Are you saying that MJ or Brady could not be paralyzed while playing their respective sports?

that's understandable.. but she gets to do this on this stage once every 4 years.. why was she not in the right state of mind.. this is her job.. it is her responsibility to have herself physically and mentally prepared to perform.. idk.. mixed feelings on it.. sucks for her and everyone involved

my dad was a former all-american gymnast in college, followed by a 40-year career as a 27-time state championship high school gymnastics coach. he has coached beginners, and he's coached olympians and world champions. everyone gets "the twisties" at some point. it just happens. its not a choice, and its not a lack of preparation. its not something that can be muscled through, because that's when extreme injuries occur--its like your body not doing what your brain is telling it to. its just extremely bad timing for biles. but make no mistake, shes one of the greatest gymnasts of all time, and the only people who are arguing otherwise don't know anything about gymnastics.

High on the amazingly beautiful world God gave us.

Or maybe it was this vortex thing they talk about out there. Supposedly there are places where you feel some sort of spiritual event when you’re there. Me, I just think it’s what you feel when you’re outdoors at a place that’s beautiful or special to you. Or maybe it’s just the breeze you get sometimes outside.

Or maybe, it's the peyote.

I will finally respond to this one by pointing to a discussion I heard last night. First, I would lean toward Biles quitting too, but it’s different than “dropping out of a start” because Biles “started.”

The discussion last night said that Biles was mentally off on her routines. I can’t recall the exact phrase but something like a “air twist funk.” They compared it to a pitcher not finding home plate or a golfer with the yips. She had apparently warmed up the same way where she couldn’t get it down.

I would circle back to the pitcher- when a pitcher can’t find home plate, the manager takes him out. I can’t relate to gymnastics, therefore, I have no idea. I have pitched, and I have played golf, and I can relate to getting in a funk that takes a time to get out of. Just an interesting perspective that I heard.
I am comparing it somewhat to Steve Sax. Lifetime really good second baseman who suddenly could not make consistent throws to first. I don't think he ever got over it.

Really it only sucks for her, and maybe her teammates. Everybody else that's complaining has no skin in the game.

10 scholarships in 1 year would be major overkill. UNC had 15 in 3 years and that was because they were made a "cautionary tale." If you look up what they got caught doing its way worse than what we got caught for

You don't think she's under a multi-million dollar contract? She's literally the face of the US Olympics this year (which she chose btw)

She gets paid per medal won...so no, she isn't under contract and a pitcher makes more in one year than she has in her whole career which has mostly been sponsorship money.
