I don't have any issues with Simone making a choice not to compete, would have been better to make that choice PRIOR to getting to Tokyo but I'm sure had she been in the same space she is now before the team was picked she would have made the choice then.

Better question is why are the uniform regulations on Women's Beach Volleyball the way they are. The men are basically wearing board shorts and tank tops, but the women need to wear handkerchiefs?

Also one last comment on the Simone stuff, I've seen memes comparing it to if LeBron sat out of the Finals.

First off, LeBron is paid per game what most people don't make in a year even if he's sitting in street clothes. The pressure he feels per game playing 80+ games a year and getting (at least) 4 games in a Finals is far different than a once in a lifetime opportunity to compete on the largest world stage for your sport every 4 years.

Plus I've seen LeBron carried off the court for a cramp before by 2 grown men...

If you can’t handle the pressure….. stay off the Olympic team.

She can handle the pressure though...and has already proven it. And the Olympic team still won silver and a large part of the reason why is because of her being a part of the team. There's a very good chance that her competing could and would have jeopardized the team from accomplishing that.

You can speculate that an alternate who was left at home may have given them a better chance to win gold than Simone, but that's applying the retrospect of knowing she was going to step down and not compete. Months back when she was on her A game no one would have even thought about her not being on the team.

I'll say one last thing on Biles.

Prayers for the girl. Prayers to get through whatever she's going through and prayers that the response to her decision by the public doesn't hurt her further.

I hope she's able to do some recovery the rest of this week and compete on Sunday in the other events she qualified for, and put forth an heroic and inspiring performance after what has happened.
