Well now you are talking about things you don’t know about. “Thankfully for those in your command” what a statement by you, although I wouldn’t expect anything less.

I was mature enough to make decisions as an Infantry Officer and I knew my Military Tactics and how to take care of my guys, but that doesn’t mean I was fully “mature” so maybe what @SweetasSoda said about it being more of a maturity thing is true. 😂

Anyways, keep on keeping on Butchna.
You cited that you were an officer in charge of a platoon. I took it at face value without interpretation. Were qualified ADULTS behind you landing that responsibility? If yes, then their assessment doesn’t jibe with yours. Maybe you’re too hard on yourself or maybe your post proves you’re dead on.

i feel for the guy. i feel for any guy who went through the clusterf*ck that was the pruitt era. he was a good teammate anyway--he was always pumping JG and other guys up on the sidelines. looked like he had good energy most of the time. seems most are criticizing him for living what seems to be a very normal 18-19 year-old's life, just his is constantly under the microscope by media and forums full of grown men because he's a quarterback at a major university. i dunno, i wish him the best.
I feel for him too, I really pulled for him..but he is an idiot. If anybody thinks he is an idiot, it is because of the idiot things he has said and done, not because that person is a jerk.

Good points. You made me correct my own thought process on the subject. Well done.

QB questions: Isn't Hooker a one year only guy who will be gone next year? Also, If Milton has a great year can he declare for the draft? If so, that would leave Bailey as the man next year even if the incoming freshman is really good.

Hooker has two seasons of eligibility. He’s been able to declare for the draft for two seasons.

I have prepared for next year too many times. We always talk about someone leaving early and they don’t live up to it. I want the person who is going to help us win now. Nothing will build this team faster than wins and the same fan support the baseball team received.

They may not officially announce it but they'll know. I think they know how they want it to go and are looking for confirmation in scrimmage. If somebody comes on strong late, they might shift their thinking. By all indications, they want to win more than they want to be right-- a refreshing concept not seen last year.

You're crying. I am not crying.

But he's not a kid. And we need to be teaching our kids that actions have consequences. I hope someone starts educating players as freshman about using social media. And how things you delete get saved and shared.
I don't think any young person, in today's society, believes actions have consequences. Somewhere along the way, sh*t happened.

Curious. Do you think he is best, or just want your prediction to be right?

I want @butchna scratching his head when Hooker hands it off to Jeremy Banks to start the game against BG. 😂 T Evans is crushing that alternate reality for me.

* Older I get the less I know about football.

Can he vote? Is he considered a minor in need of a guardian? Could he be working like the majority of people his age if he did not have football talent?
I had been married for two years, owned a three bedroom house with two acres, and had a truck and car already paid for at his age...plus I was making about 35,000 a year.

I became an idiot a few years later after a string of bad choices ruined my life, but I wasn't then.

So our offense could be good eventually if we had talent but our defense is gonna suck because Alabama stole toots and we have no lbs. That said, the person said get ready on how bad the defense would be -- did they not see last year's defense? It literally could not get worse. The year before they were good but last year they were bottom of the NCAA.

Hardly. I don't get why people think this. Maybe the all-SEC schedule was a shock to fans, but a bunch of SEC offenses absolutely ate last year and no OOC games meant no stat-stuffing games.

We gave up 30.1 ppg (all in-conference of course), that was good for top half of the SEC (#7 exactly). Considering the SEC is the cream of the crop, being 7th isn't too bad at all. 69th nationally which has us just hardly below the midway point.

Historically, despite SEC offenses being a lot better than a decade ago, last year's defense was 5th best of the last decade vs conference opponents ('19, '15, '14, '11 were better). The other 5 seasons we allowed to SEC teams:
2018 36.1 PPG
2017 34.8
2016 36.9
2013 30.6
2012 40.0

I just don't think, and stats support it, last year's defense was "bad". It was an unusual year with an insane schedule and, still yet, we were better than half of the league. That is encouraging.

Age and maturity. These things go hand in hand.

He is a sheltered college athelete who has no other worries in the world but figuring out how to play football and finish school. (He literally has everything done for him at UT only has to go to class and play football)

He is not an adult. He is still a kid.
He is an idiot...but he has a lot of time to change. It's not really complicated...just grow up and quit being an idiot.

So his sheltered world has caused his maturity not to catch up with his age, and thus he is an adult that is still behaving like a kid.

Sorry I think kids should be taught that there are consequences for their actions. That doesn't mean you dislike them as a person or are wishing for the earth to swallow them whole. It just means we should be held accountable for what we do. Life is better that way. Now not only are kids not being held accountable, they keep getting excused until they decide they are an adult?
This is not a hard concept for people with common sense to understand..
