In response to Basilio's WR room comment:

Kodi Burns talked pretty openly last week about his room being a bunch of unknowns so no new revelation there. There’s some talent and potential but a lot of inexperienced and unproven guys, and as I’ve stated that’s going to lead to inconsistency. Velus is a vet and Payton played two years in this league for another team, but Tillman has 8 catches in three years, Keyton has 13 in two, Hyatt played a bunch but is still a sophomore, the Jimmys barely played last season and Merrill and Coby are new.

Velus’s hamstring injury isn’t ideal obviously. Calloway has missed some time this week. Holiday’s been in and out and that’s not ideal.

And if there was no sweeping it under the rug? Do you support paying him anyway for getting the program in trouble? Seems counterproductive IMO. If we're going down for something he did, I'm all for him going down with us, and not getting paid for it. It's called responsibility. Screwing up comes with consequences. One of those should be not getting paid millions of dollars for it.

Ok let's mk this clear, when most coaches win they cheat sloppy or clean. The thing I'm trying to get yawl fans to understand is nobody tells on themselves or claims cause to fire. They pay the coach to go away and let it go. Pruitt is a NFL coach now so if he chose to cm bk to the NCAA and tell more guess what he'd screw the university. See making a shyt show of a situation never benefits the school because the coach will always get another job. Now do you get what I'm saying. Like Butch made a mockery of UT and never truly sought another job just so they'd hv to pay him in full. Once it was done he seriously went after the ASU job that's his peak level of coaching and competition.

I think that group has been a mixed bag so far this preseason. Some of it has been that a couple guys, including Jimmy Holiday, have missed some time, and the performance has been inconsistent at times. We mentioned that there were some drops in one of the scrimmages, and there are obviously a lot of guys at that position who just haven’t played much to this point because they’re in their first or second year in the program.

I think the wide-receiver group might be the biggest wild card on the team aside from quarterback play, in many ways, because there is some legitimate talent, but a lot of it is unproven. If that group plays as well as it’s capable of playing, Tennessee might have a chance to be pretty good offensively if the quarterback play is also good

So you're telling me there's a chance...

I look at it more like the Bruce Pearl situation. Instead of letting a coach drag you down, you fire his ass and let the NCAA see that once you became aware of the action, you acted. Personally, I hope the NCAA slaps a show cause on Pruitt's ass. As for the "this is the way it is" argument, I'm not sure which set of morons made the decision that firing a coach for cause was taboo, but I think that's ludicrous, A coach should be responsible for what he does. And I don't disagree that everyone cheats, even UT, but hell, JMO, sloppy cheating should be a firing offense. If your sloppy and get caught, you've failed at your job. And if you're going to be sloppy in how you cheat, why compound it by being a prick to people who will rat you out? Whoever it is that came forward to Plowman, how do we know they didn't threaten to take it to the NCAA unless she acted? What then?

Don't get me wrong. I hate how this was handled so publicly, but I'm not going to cry over Pruitt not getting paid for having screwed my university. **** him. He played a huge part in making this mess. You talk about Butch making a mockery of us, what the hell do you think Pruitt did? Then you want to pay him millions on top of that. **** that.

Parents and coaches need to quit acting like they know the rules and cussing at the officials if they don’t even know the color of the rule book.
I coach a lot of youth sports and there are some good officials out there…..who cares if a parent or coach yells at an official? Officials get all up in their feelings and escalate a lot of situations.

We did not handle the Bruce Pearl situation well at all….. Any other school in America and he would have still been our coach with no penalties.

I don’t care about people yelling. Some clearly take it too far though. I’m just saying if you think the quality of officiating is poor now just wait 10 years when half the current officials retire and there isn’t anyone to replace them.

The reports out of New York is that none of the players there like him either.

They are probably having to relearn what a good pass is.
" It hit me in the chest coach...... in stride. I didn't know what to do ."
" It's okay son. You pull it in (twss) and head for the checkerboards. That's your home ....go to your home son."

My Tennessee Volunteers 21 Season Predictions

Bowling Green - Win
Pittsburgh - Win
TN Tech - Win
@ Florida - Loss
@ Mizzou - Loss
South Carolina - Win
Ole Miss - Loss
@ Alabama - Loss
@ Kentucky - Loss
Georgia - Loss
South Alabama - Win
Vanderbilt - Win

6-6 and 2-6 SEC

What say you?

Big picture - Saban is gonna have a field day cutting kids and with more space available, the number of transfers might become even worse. Increasing demand will exacerbate the transfer cycle.

Little picture - This should help rebuilding teams quite a bit. Can't complain right now. This is good for us.
Can I like half this post?

That’s bc as a society we have become more sensitive and fragile….. a good official can control the game and crowd with ease even while missing a call or two(no one makes all the right calls)

The first flag was for roughing the longsnapper. GP kid bulldozed him, and the two flags were right on the spot.

Falss start on the second kick. Backed up and rekicked.

So why couldn't they just refuse the first penalty since the kick was good? That's what I don't understand.

I'm at 7-5 because I do think we are better than most expect and see no reason why we should lose to Missouri, SC, and Kentucky. Hell, we COULD win all 3. For me right now it's:

Right scary lil UT lmao. LSU still tells the NCAA go to hell and Will Wade is still coaching and winning just like most of the coaches named in that scandal.

Wonder why Pruitt's coaching LB in the NFL instead of being a DC at D1 school? I mean he was supposedly a defensive guru (laughing).

As far as butch goes, that street runs both ways. Do you think ADs don't know how Butch did that? There's a file out on Butch. He hurt himself.

Why are so many people taking Kentucky to beat us? The game last year is an aberration and not the normal. Also, I think everyone is forgetting that we do not play them immediately after Alabama. Our bye week is between the Alabama and Kentucky games, therefore, we should be rested and healed up some. They travel to Mississippi State the week before.

I realize all that, I just think they are the most likely of the 3 to beat us and I think it's unlikely we win all three. We could easily beat them this year and arguably, we should.
Last year was not indicative of the respective talent at all because JG handed them the game like he'd put money on it. One of the most frustrating performances I've ever watched.
