With the Transfer portal….. we have no clue what the roster will look like next year.

I'll be a little worried about defense next year. We are losing a lot on the dline, lb is still a question, and we lose a good chunk of the secondary, but luckily we have Hadden, Turnage, and Tank. No matter what, I would be hitting the portal for some LB's next year.

It’s not that we will never beat those big three in fact I’d wager we do win some over that 5-7 year timeframe but it’s the other games we will lose that will prevent 10 win seasons. Let’s face it mizzu-Kentucky-ole miss are all programs we won’t beat much more than half the time
You, my good man, are tripping on mid-70's acid.

OK, let's just all rally together and have a morose what could have been party because that's obviously the way to get on the winning track--is this where we need to be? Seems to have the earmarks of depression.

Both LOS are going to start to deteriorate quickly after this year: overall talent is going to decline as well

You say a lot of dumb things, but you're not that far off on this point.

We're very senior heavy on the DL for sure.

McNeill came outta HS as an OT, so he's being converted. Washington I'm not entirely sure is still on the team, he was involved with all that mess that lead to Salter leaving I think.

I feel like we'll be solid on DL though, but next season could be a very bad one for that group. We have a great positional coach both in recruiting/development there though.

OL I'm not as worried about, mainly because we won't lost quite as many after this season as on the DL

Calbert hasn't really been a consistent contributor too so not sure how much we're losing there. If Wright decides to leave early though we could be in a very tough spot. Just depends on how well Elarbee can develop the young guys we got and recruit new ones. We're going to see some regression here for sure though.

That’s a key point. I have to wonder if the success rate of interior linemen will be all the good for transfers

My hunch is skill players are much more likely to be good immediate difference makers than lineman.

to say I am worried about our LOS in the future is an understatement.

As mentioned before we need the free agency market to be good to us

Walter Nolen will be here next year. Garner will ad a couple dudes from the portal on the DL also. We need Dominic Bailey to come on under Garner.

We really needed to land a stud immediately ready LB in this recruiting class, but that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. So we’ll need sophomore Willis to be ready to go. Hopefully BJM can develop.

OMG...that is some serious BS..😒 I am nothing like him, he is a contrarion troll (even though I think in reality he is a decent human being) I don't take the contrary pov ON EVERY TOPIC like brubear does just to piss everybody off..you guys have often changed my mind on about things.

There are some things I will never bend on though and that pisses some people off.
Well, upon further reflection I'll go on and concede this point.

I can’t believe y’all let Bruin bait you into a Butch debate smh
I can't believe anybody ever converses with him...he is the biggest contrarion troll on VN. What is weird is he seems to be a good guy in real life..wish we knew that guy as a poster on here instead of this troll that posts contrarion stuff just to get into arguments, he takes the contrary point on EVERY SINGLE TOPIC...that is how you know he is trolling, nobody..well except maybe Gucci since he started doing it too...is on the contrarion side of every topic honestly...

He wasn’t but the problem is that coach to “to take us where we want to go” hasn’t been found yet and likely isn’t going to be. The “where we want to go” expectations of this program are “old school” and I hate to remind people that bama and Georgia and the entire SEC isn’t Fulmer era “old school” anymore.

8-9 win seasons are the ceiling for this SEC era and we ran the only man of the last 4 coaches we have had that could do it out of town.
The expectations today are different than what they were in the late 90s. I did not expect Butch to ever win a national title, or even win the SEC. However, he blew great opportunities in 2015 and 2016 to win the East.

Once the program is rebuilt, there really isn't any reason Tennessee should be worse than about 7-5 in any given year. Lose to Florida, Georgia, Alabama, a strong West opponent, and a strong non-conference P5 opponent. Tennessee has more talent on a year-in, year-out basis than the other 7 teams they play.

In "good" years, we should be winning or coming close to winning the East.

Off topic but I dislocated my shoulder sunday, but it’s back in place now. Any suggestions on treating for recovery? Or should I go to the doctor? I know some of you in here have PT experience. Any help is appreciated

No lane was just the wrong replacement

No Derek was just the wrong replacement

No butch was just the wrong replacement

No Jeremy was just the wrong replacement

there has been one thing constant

Lane was a homerun on paper, especially with him bringing his hall of fame dad as DC, and Coach O as DL and bag man. Just a combination of dumb contract agreement related to buyout and poor timing/bad luck.

Dooley had no business making the shortlist, much less landing the job.

Jones had 2 conference titles in 3 years at Eastern Michigan and 2 conference titles in 3 years at Cincinnati. That turned out to be fool’s gold and he was way on down the list for me
Personally, but still pretty good look on a resume.

I’ve heard it said that an SEC coordinator was just about the best Fulmer could get at the time. That said, Pruitt still had way too many red flags.

But you’re right, the constant has been poor choices by the people that call the shots for UT.

Agree, I’m not too worried about the future of the Dline. Terry, Bailey, Thomas and Simmons all have the talent on the interior. Add a transfer or two and home fully Nolan and we’ll be good to go. I’m much less confident in the Oline.

i think Willis can be a stud LB also

8 team PPR keeper league. Here’s the bulk of my current roster. Will probably have 3-4 total picks. I draft 2nd and I’m pretty sure Pitts will be taken 1st overall. What would you do? I think I need to take one of the rookie QBs for the future.
J. Chase to go with Burrow and hope Lawrence, Fields or Lance drop to the 2nd round?
Go ahead and take Lawrence or Fields with the second overall pick and take best option at WR/RB in the second round?
I’d pick Fields

Yeah, I think Garner will keep us pretty solid on that side of the LOS. Between his recruiting and coaching we shouldn't see too much slipping there.

I think the defense could surprise a lot of people...only area I'm curious about is how well the LB group plays/is coached.
