Very cool! I actually thought it was a moth or a butterfly at first, but then it started hovering! So cool!Sitting on the upper deck of our lake house. Had the dogs out there so everyone could sleep.
I was dosing, opened my eyes and a hummingbird is hovering less than a foot from my face. Almost swatted it before I realized what it was. Hovered for about 15-20 seconds facing me. Then just flew off.
The Lord filled this world with so many wonderful things. I wish that mankind were better caretakers…

I know some had asked, so here is our QB Club’s Venmo. We were able to salvage some helmets, shoulder pads, game/practice jerseys, and a few footballs. It looks like everything else is a loss. We have canceled our game Friday, but we plan to play next weekend in region play. Our kids are spending their mornings and middle part of the day volunteering. We are practicing on a baseball field in the afternoons (light practice). The outpouring of support from schools in Tennessee and across the U.S. has been awesome. The character of our players has been even more tremendous.
I'm well acquainted with those sons of guns. My legs and back of my head (was wearing a cap with mesh back) are still itching from getting crabs on the Chesapeake this weekend. I got enough for a meal and said "eff this" and went home lolMosquito's are shiyat. No-see-ums say hold my Dos Equis. Traveled to and from Central Florida for two decades that is the only thing that has just made me say '**** this'.
Just imagine hummingbird-sized mosquitos.

I would love to do a backcountry canoe trip in Boundary Waters. A buddy just did it this summer and decided to make it an annual thing. In the lakes regions in Minnesota and Canada, as the sun sets. The mosquitoes flying in sound like squadrens of WWII fighters approaching. It’s an awesome and scary sound. We had a rule that you were in the tent before sundown or you were on your own. Open the tent flap after dark and hundreds would fly in. They were slower than Southern mosquitoes (kinda like comparing Southern to Northern football), but would overwhelm you with sheer numbers…
Still it’s a great part of the world. Hopefully I will get the opportunity to go back there.
