I just don't think I've ever heard a coach say something like that before. Was Illinois really running some defense so exotic that he never could have anticipated and was perfectly tailored to take away half of the plays Nebraska was planning to run? Didn't look all that crazy to me, but I'm not a big X's and O's guy.
Which is more likely, that the Illini DC is a devious genius? That he just got incredibly lucky? Or that Scott Frost is a coach with a worse record after three years than Derek Dooley, Jeremy Pruitt or Charlie Strong at Texas, and just isn't very good?
His secondaries were statistically good. Most just hated on him because they disagreed with technique. But if it produces results, who cares?
Our fan base is not prepared for the offense we’re about to see in this era. Every record is about to be smashed. Milton may take peyton’s passing record this season
That's true. Although, one reason for optimism is that the defense being played in the SEC in 2021 is not near the defense that was being played back then. Also, Mizzou's offense averaged 9 ppg in conference the year before Heup got there. So he still improved them bigly in conference in year 1.have to remember though, just cause we beat up on Bg, we might still struggle some in the SEC. that’s how Heupel’s offense did his first year at Missouri.
I say that encourage everyone to enjoy the games that are fun, cause we haven’t had any of those in recent memory.

He was here 2013-2016. His secondaries in the SEC ranked in the top half his last 3 years and wasn't even that bad in Y1, despite taking over a historically bad defense and an awful secondary from 2012:It didn't the last season or two he was here. That's why he was let go when his contract expired. The talent level had also declined, which was his job as well.
It’s a TWO DEEP. Errybody that plays isn’t going to be listed on the first one. I’m withholding judgement on how “thin” we actually are on the OL. Ellarbe develops 2-3 and we’re fine. As for LB, we’re deeper than we’ve been in 3 coaching staffs.Glad to see a depth chart finally. Surprised to see Blakely starting but good for him. Also didn't think Simmons would win a job. Beckwith not on here isn't the most surprising but I hate he hasn't found a place to make an impact yet. Big O and Solomon not on the 2 deep is interesting for sure. We are thin on the OL and LB.
