I like Tony B but he has been wrong about so much stuff that it is hard for to trust his information that he gives.

Now, let’s be fair. Many have already forgotten he was the only media member in Knoxville to first break the news about Pruitt and the internal investigation. We found out about the Thanksgiving raid on the coaches offices shortly after. He also was the only member of the media that told us Pruitt was gone no matter what while the rest were hemming and hawing. I’ll take that with the recruiting or hiring speculation misses.

IMO there are so many mock drafts out every year by various internet personalities you can find a lot of players "projected" in the first round. The reality is there have been 15 RB's taken in the first round in the last 10 drafts, and very few of them were players with Hurd's skill set (Fournette, Gurley), and both of those were vastly better at doing those things than he was. Did Hurd ever have a run over 50 yards?
Don't you go taking away our projected 1st round draft pick.

That’s awesome….. he will love it…. I’m coming from north Caroline…. My wife wasn’t going to let him come bc he has school even though I tried to tell her that school is for fools! She finally agreed that he could come if he made a 100 on his test…. He came up with a 100 so he will be traveling with me.

Dude that’s awesome!

Perfect way for a kid to work for a reward. Back in the day my parents/hitting coach said they would get all the pro baseball players that worked out at their academy to sign a baseball for me if I got all A's. I got all A's and I now have a ball signed by 12 different dudes. At the time I was stoked, but most of those guys didn't end up panning out in the pros. lol

Hurd could do one thing. Take the ball a bully his way for 3-5 yards. That was about it from a running perspective. He certainly wasn't a big play threat. He benefited from a lack of rbs and coaches that underutilized a future All Pro in Kamara.

Give other rbs in UTs past a freshman year of starting duties and Hurd wouldn't be in the top 10. Most of the good backs in the past 30 years didn't get starting carries till their sophomore/ junior year.

Cedric Wilson is one example. He had 1 less yard than Hurd but did it in 88 fewer carries. Why did he have fewer carries? Because his freshman year Travis Stephens was the starter. His sophomore/junior year he split carries with Jabari Davis. His senior year he split carries with Gerald Riggs Jr.

Hurd came at a time when we wanted to run the ball and he didn't have competition. Kamara came his sophomore year and history has proven the staff were morons for not getting Kamara the ball more.
Smarter coaches do smarter things. I agree Kamara should have gotten more touches. He wasn't used properly and neither was Hurd. You all blindly act as if Hurd isn't talented. He also just made an NFL roster. And to be honest it is disrespectful as hell for so called Vol fans to sh1t on what he did here. How would you like to used as a freaking battering ram constantly ? The fact he lasted 2 and 1/2 years is kinda impressive and ole Butch is a big part of the reason he switched positions. He had to from a health standpoint. Again big picture. If you also look at only college you will also see Kamara turned the ball over. Definitely more than Hurd. That may or may not have been part of the reason Kamara didn't get more carries.

Maybe but it seems like that info was already out there on message boards before Tony reported it….. people need to like and trust who they want too but IMO that is why he is not as highly thought of by some.

And from my understanding, Jalen asked to either get a lead blocker or switch to TE for his health. Butch showed that lead blocker against Northwestern and it kept him from transferring, then we never saw it again. When Butch wouldn't let him switch positions after the concussions mid-season (because he wanted him to batter his way to the record) he left.

Pretty sure Jalen is a Vol at heart and didn't want to leave but Butch was Butch. I wouldn't trade a lifetime of pain and debilitating injury playing in a scheme that doesn't fit me for that dude just to finish as a Vol.

I can’t wait for the Vols to be 1-0 and UGA is 0-1. Pollack will have to change his National Championship prediction and all the tears from their fans will be glorious.

The tears of UGA fans are among the most delicious of all fan tears. They are particularly tasty early in the season when abundant hope makes them sweeter. Pairs well with delicate flavors like seafood in cream-based sauces.

While this is true, Jalen did it the wrong way. But his health should always come first. He had to do what was best for him.

What he does well is use nuance to tell the regular fan what is really going on in the locker room be that culture, talent, recruiting, etc. Because of that he’s not liked by the ultra homers because he doesn’t always paint a rosy picture.

Oh Tony, I appreciate your willingness to listen to negative feedback.

animal making human uncomfortable in the smallest way....kill animal. you are just another poster child for the ignorant hubris of mankind.
You're posting a link about butchering and eating humans and I'm the one with ignorant hubris? That's totally on brand for you.

I have no issue rooting for Clemson when they're dumping on Bama or UGA.

I'll root for a meteor instead. I won't root for Clemson because I feel that they've had the benefit of stepping into the vacuum Tennessee created (along with Miami/FSU in conference). They're success is as bad for us as any one in the conference due to the fact our recruiting areas overlap so much. Too many of their players should have been wearing the correct Orange and White.

It's time to fix that, but I see them as a hurdle we'll have to clear, just like Florida/UGA/Bama. We talk about needing the SEC teams to take a step back for UT to accelerate their climb, but Clemson needs to come back down to earth a little as well. So for me, it's not the worst thing in the world if UGA blasts Clemson this weekend. Clemson will be hardly challenged this season, while UGA still has the rigors of an SEC schedule in front of them and the fact they tend to lose one they shouldn't (S.Carolina).
