I am in rotational mfg equipment sales and literally wear a black pair of NB tennis shoes, unless I have to wear steel toe boots, and jeans. Been at it for 30 years and have to go into mfg plants. Dont get me wrong, I have nice pants and Polos and buttondowns as needed, dress for occasions, but I just dont get it.

When I was younger, I tried to look the part and ruined some high dollar clothing.

I will never forget going into a plant when I was a newbie in the late 90's. Had a company truck that was in the shop, and the only thing available from the rental was some some sub compact Ford, like a golf cart. I pull into the maintenance building and they were just letting out from a meeting. Maintenance dude saw me getting out of this rental and said " Son, you need to sell something"..LOL
