It is so nuts up here...it seems like they find random dead bodies up here in the mountains every few months.Signal Mountain Murders: Signal Mountain murders - Wikipedia
Yeah I pass by a rock every time I go to the cemetery of an 8 year old boy that was ran over by a man that was drunk. No punishment at all. I couldn’t imagine the loss of a kid to this and am thankful I never hurt anyone in my foolish days. Everyone is in danger from these people when we get on the roads. I was one of them for a little while and woke up.My Dad was an alcoholic and he drove home drunk all the time. It’s mind boggling that he never killed anyone.
He did take out the same street light at least 5 times. He had this 50s Chevy that was literally a tank. It never even needed a new bumper…
The police would come to the house and tell him that he would have to pay for the damage. No ticket, no arrest, no fuss, no yelling…the fifth time, the police didn’t come to the house, just the city maintenance crew with a bill.
I have never understood the leniency afforded the drunk driver…
I don't get it either, but look at all the **** I have had thrown at me today because of my convictions about drunk murderers, and you might start to understand why it goes so relatively lightly punished by society. My Dad was an alcoholic and he drove home drunk all the time. It’s mind boggling that he never killed anyone.

You around Signal Point? I actually fell into a crevice in the dark of night 40 years ago camping on the main brow. Fell about 15' and thought I was a goner over the main bluff. About 10' beyond the fall was several hundred foot drop. Dang..still brings back memories falling that night and thought I was over the edge. Broke or sprained my big toe from bouncing off walls. Luckily my arms were up. Still went rapelling next morning.
The lady who raised me was his first cousin. I remember his office. I was 3 months shy of 5 years old when he was murdered. His widow was estranged from Buddy's family from what I understand. Our families were members at Valleybrook. IIRC DDS Elliot had a facility on Hixson Pike near Northgate and my Dad's firm was in the same little complex.

So you are related to the Elliots? My Mom let me know that Mrs Elliot passed away not long ago.
Lol...my wife made me sit down so we could sit with our legs hanging over that abyss so my daughter could take a pic of us...That is incredible but also gives me the anxieties.
Also, to your point, I have and it’s never good. But they have always got in that Uber or Taxi.
I more meant the fact that dude obviously knew he was going out to drink, just get a dang driver to drive you around all night. It’s not like he doesn’t have the money. Now his life is over. Over something he could easily of avoided.
Back when I was single, went to a dance club with my nephew and his buddies. I drove to the club. Drank way too much. Decided that it was time to leave, instead of driving, I decided to walk. I was in town and staying at my Mom’s house. My drunk brain thought that I was only a mile away so I walked.
And I walked. And I walked. And I walked. (Translation drunken stagger) I got really tired, so I climbed under a hedge between two houses and slept for a little…then got up and walked some more. I even hugged the streetlight that my Dad knocked down and told it that it was safe. Finally made it safely to my Mom’s house.
The next day, I hitched a ride to my car. The club was a little over 5 miles from my Mom’s house.
WTF is Nolen even going back to TAMU this weekend??!!
Those cultists are brainwashing him, dammit! They're trying to steal our guy! I swear I hope Jimbo Fisher develops genital warts. That bastard needs to focus his recruiting in Texas and leave Tennessee kids alone.
You know, they're filming a sequel to that called Triplets.Too short. Rather have his twin brother.
That's incredible. I sat on the edge of McAfee Knob. Couldn't see anything but the tops of trees hanging onto the cliff because of the cloud. At the parking area it was raining, halfway it started sleeting, at the knob it was snowing. Very memorable hike. Here is a ledge just a couple hundred feet from Taft Point...I have a pic of me and my wife standing (actually got one of us sitting with our legs hanging down here too, or maybe on another one of these overhanging ledges..I can't rememberfor sure, there are several that jut out down the edge and they are all pretty much the same) this spot that my daughter took..

You're lucky Big Foot didn't sneak up and push you over. You'd never have even seen him. That's incredible. I sat on the edge of McAfee Knob. That rock overhang looks just like a Buffalo face.Lol...no...you just walk around to that point, there are several points that jut out with widening fissures in between. Taft Point is the highest point along that area...here is a pic of Taft Point itself, it's funny because they decided to put a little fence around it, but none of the rest of that area does..it makes no sense. That little rail is about three and a half to four feet high to give some context.
Edit...also that tall cliff across the valley is the Dawn Wall of El Cap to give you some idea of the immensity of the scenery
