HB has been struggling more than the others in practice…. He just has to show he can do the job.

If your friend is saying that, are we back to the how we practice is more important than winning games thing? Because, Dobbs...4th team as a freshman...did not practice well...amazing, unorthodox playmaker in college...in the NFL now...

Milton struggled more in the game than the others...
Did that one 5 yard pass from the back up qb impress you? If Milton doesn’t improve then we will move on to Hooker…. I don’t think JH will put with poor QB play….. after re-watching the game…. I don’t think Milton played as poorly as I originally thought but he still has a lot to prove this Saturday.

So we should compare every QB who struggles in practice to Dobbs?

You sure we don't need to argue for a few hours first? Haha. Sanderson is an amazing world builder and story teller, among the best; I just think he's a pretty amateur writer. Even Sanderson admitted he butchered Mat though, says it's a regret he has. I respect him for that. I do like Stormlight for the story, just not a fan of his writing style.

Check out Erikson if you're into epic fantasy. Except for the first book of Malazan, it's about as high quality literature as there is in fantasy.
I read the first Malazan. It was quite difficult, I may go back to him. I totally agree about Worldbuilding. I did not catch that he messed up Mat, but he was my least favorite of the three, not that I did not think he was a great character. Kaladin Stormblessed is my favorite character of all time. Thanks for answering.

And JG was a practice “All-American”.

Typically, running QBs have difficulty showing out in practice bc the defense is not allowed to hit them…. Dobbs was never a great passing qb but was extremely dynamic when it came to playing an…. A coach can only judge by what they have seen a player do….. all 3 QBs struggled in games last season so the only way to judge them is by how they perform in practices and the scrimmages.

I somewhat agree. I think Heup is trying to avoid controversy if he can, which will be hard to do with this program considering the past decade. If it works out and they win with Milton, that's the best result. If it doesn't and they lose while not trying Hooker and Bailey, he's bought more trouble. He had the opportunity to play all three Thursday night and didn't. Yet, even Mullen gave his back up significant minutes in their game, much more than Hooker's mop up, because he is unafraid of QB controversy. I hope Heup plays all three at least against Tenn Tech. They need game reps.

Every season we do the same thing. 😖 “Everything I just saw is the way it is…LEEROY JENKINS!” This team is great this team sucks this is good that is bad…what time is the championship game between Bama and UCLA? By midseason, there’s a 180 difference on most declarations. Coaching and teaching and adjustments by both players and coordinators is a thing. That pass that was overthrown game one, hits a receiver perfectly in stride game eight…maybe not thrown by the same QB. Or what worked game two falls apart game seven. Clemson’s OL and QB seriously doomed? Or does that winning culture take root reasonably quickly as film is reviewed? I know WE really looked forward to some damn hell football! How about a whole season…what’s the worst?

Heup is not afraid of what the fans think…. He feels Milton is his qb and is trying to get him corrected running his system….. Richardson and Emory Jones have both run Florida’s system for over a year…. Joe Milton has been here 2 months….. if coach Heup is worried about what fans think then we hired the wrong guy.

While it may be true that some QBs play better in games than they practice, I'd say that's a small minority. Not sure why anyone would expect a coach to turn the game over to a guy he has seen perform poorly week after week. If the starter continues to suck in games, a good coach will start trying the backups, and based on history, I fully expect Heupel will do so. But if HB practices poorly, and never gets the chance in a game, that's really on him and not Heupel.

Bailey is also a hard worker…. Just bc he is not consistent in practice now….. does not mean that he won’t reach that point.

I rewatched it yesterday and actually thought the exact opposite. He missed a ton of open receivers and at least four deep balls that he tried. I was actually kind of shocked that he didn’t connect on a single deep ball for so long. We tried more than I thought. Biggest improvements come from game one to two. We shall see how he responds. We will need him to connect some deep shots against Pitt.

For the younger crowd, the reference Brian Kelly was trying to make came from John McKay when he was the coach of the laughably bad expansion Tampa Bay Bucs in the 70’s. After one particularly bad outing, a reporter asked him:

“Coach, what do you think of your team’s execution today?”

McKay: “I’m in favor of it.”

Which was what I thought he mimicked…subtle greatness from the 70’s. That would have escaped most (not all) cancel culture scrutiny today. Kelly’s version with a paragraph and diagrams of the planned assassination was a little clunky. Style points. Typical squawking over nothing but he gave them too much material.

I don’t think he played well just not as bad as I had originally thought….. he was pretty good early and mad a couple of really really good throws…..he was off deep but had been really consistent in practice with his deep throws so hopefully he will play the next game like he does in practice.

Kelly forced it in an attempt to be funny. If he wasn't a toolbag and if the Catholic church didn't have a long history of executing people then maybe it would've been more funny.

Actually.... that latter part makes it funnier

Malazan 1 is rough, was a movie script never meant to be a novel. Malazan 2 and beyond will change how you think of fantasy, maybe of all literature.

Kaladin in book 1 and 2 was awesome, but he's not complex or multi dimensional enough of a character over the long run for me to put on my top list. There's never a time when his thoughts or actions surprised me. He's always always always doing the right thing, he's too perfect. His only flaw is that he beats himself up too much for not being perfect enough. Maybe I'm a little too far off from perfect to like him very much haha. Definitely plan to finish Stormlight though, nitpicking complaints about Sanderson aside, it is a fantastic world and storyline.
