I think it’s smart, especially amid all the craziness this year. Head coach bolts in the middle of the night, promote from within to stabilize and buy time if necessary. It’s what we should have done when Kiffin left. And who knows, they might’ve landed on the next Knute Rockne.
No...I was on the road for a while, I got on this morning and got caught up, but when I got home from work I was over twenty pages back..and I was doing stuff here and there this evening so it took me all evening...I both love and hate this time of year.Only to find out you wasted all day...lol.
Two additional salient points. He left in freaking January and he made us hire Dooley. After Kiffin left that recruiting class still imploded though, even if Kiffin didn't take many (any?) of them to USC. Also we were in the middle of a rebuild when Kiffin left, and his leaving compounded the problem. It isn't like we were great when he left. In contrast OU has gone 55-10 over the last 5 years with 3 CFP appearances.
OU has to absolutely nail this hire. I mean, the hiring of any head football coach is important, but this is vitally important given the situation they are in with the roster and their entrance to the SEC in a few years. If they mess this up, they'll probably need to hire a new coach again before entering the SEC.
-APAfter digging around some tonight, Tennessee appears to not be a factor for Jahmyr Gibbs. The last staff really hurt his thoughts on Tennessee is what was expressed to me by people down in Dalton.
So where would Tennessee go from here? I think the Vols will take a swing at Zach Evans and see if they can get involved there. Sounds like A&M and Ole Miss will also be involved there.
Finally, Demario Tolan is down to Vols and LSU in my opinion. He is going back there this weekend and if the Vols can survive the weekend then I believe they stand a great shot there.
