Recruiting Forum Football Talk IV

Something else Iā€™ve noticed is that a bunch of OU fans are convinced that thereā€™s going to be a 30-for-30 about all the ā€œcrazinessā€ surrounding their program for the past few days.

If theyā€™re getting a 30-for-30 for this, weā€™ll end up with a 10-part Ken Burns documentary series.
They've had such remarkable stability in their program that this is a gigantic shock to their system. They have not had to conduct a search for a new football coach in over 20 years.

That isn't to say Lincoln Riley leaving them, especially in the manner he did, isn't a big deal. It definitely is. However one of their media people tweeted (later deleted) something to the effect of "this is the most damaging thing to happen to any college football program in the last 30 years," and it showed how not used to this they are.

Yeah, but I don't remember any coach so thoroughly gutting a team when they left. Even Kiffin couldn't take half the team with him through the transfer portal.

That always makes me sad...looking back, it has been all downhill from that moment. If we had beaten LSU, and then at least competed with that Miami team, I don't believe things would have went downhill like they did.
plus that LSU loss created the monster that is Saban in the SEC. That gave him his first SEC title (his team was not nearly as talented as the TN team that year). Saban used that title to start recruiting like crazy and LSU won a National Title a couple years later.

After Kiffin left that recruiting class still imploded though, even if Kiffin didn't take many (any?) of them to USC. Also we were in the middle of a rebuild when Kiffin left, and his leaving compounded the problem. It isn't like we were great when he left. In contrast OU has gone 55-10 over the last 5 years with 3 CFP appearances.

OU has to absolutely nail this hire. I mean, the hiring of any head football coach is important, but this is vitally important given the situation they are in with the roster and their entrance to the SEC in a few years. If they mess this up, they'll probably need to hire a new coach again before entering the SEC.

I know the top tweet was shared but this was a reply to it. Anyone know these guys? Either way sounds good to me! If something good is about to head our way may be soon with how people are talking!
Christopher Gabriel is a regular guest of Russell Smith on FanRun radio. He's out of Fresno and has his own radio show out there. Not too sure of the connection but whenever he is on the show he talks about going to Vols games when he was little and has a lot of family that went to UT. I don't think I've ever heard him bring any inside info to the show or anything. Seems like a good dude but I really don't think he has any access to the AD here.

I was at work and for about 3 straight days I got nothing done but hitting refresh on here. Itā€™s a wonder I didnā€™t get fired. And of course that search also brought us the world famous Beaver. And by world famous, I really mean worldā€™s biggest tool.
No. Beaver first surfaced during the Jones hiring.
