Pruitt really meddled in his OC's offense. Tyson Helton at WKU has a QB, who through 12 games, has 4,968 yards passing and 52 passing TDs. The NCAA record for passing TDs is 60 by Joe Burrow in a 15 game schedule. Zappe may beat it in 14 games.
I saw this all happening clear as day, and once the transfer thing was added it was going to be a absolute free for all. I also figured it wasn't ever going to help us because we have a bunch of tightwad pencil necked academic geeks that don't care anything about athletics for BIG money. We have the Haslams, but other schools have dozens of billionaires, or in Bamas case multi-millionaire fanatics that put their money where their heart is.
Didn't Jacket post on here at some point that TN had to wait for Jan 1 for some law to change before we can do the NIL. It may not have been him but it was someone in the know.
Helton was the OC at WKU from 2014-2015 and both years Brandon Doughty had about 5k yards and 50 TDs. The dude loves to throw it all over the field and had a top 6 offense in terms of scoring each year at WKU. But when he was here, we ran the ball more than we passed it.Pruitt meddled but this years success isn’t all Helton. Their offense was struggling and he fired his OC and hired Houston Baptist OC who is the next offensive star in coaching game who also brought his pupil Zappe with him. It will be interesting to see if Helton keeps it up when he loses the guy since he will have the offensive scheme installed to just keep running it kind of like what Dabo did with Chad Morris but then Dabo never added to it and here we are today for him at Clemson.
