It will be ok….it’s more important that we hit on the guys we do get…. If our staff doesn’t then it won’t matter where we are ranked….. just look at the Big 12…. Texas and Oklahoma always in or right around the top 10 in recruiting…. Oklahoma State and Baylor are always ranked 35 and below when it comes to recruiting…. We will be fine as long as we keep becoming a more steady program.
I'm not panicking. I joke about that, but I'm well aware of the reality of the situation. I agree that it's imperative that our coaches hit on their evaluations. I trust their ability to coach. And we still have the portal to help us, which we also, desperately need to hit on. But I don't think you can compare our recruiting to teams in the Big 12. We don't play in the Big 12, we play in the SEC, and to get where we eventually want to go, recruiting has to get better. It's a process. Right now, I trust the coaches know what they are doing. They had a lot working against them this cycle. But next cycle needs to be better.

Im sure Elko will probably try to retain him. With no apparent openings on Tennessee's staff it is just a pipe dream at this point. Besides his recruiting chops Trooper is also one heck of a position coach.
Yeah, I think part of the reason I like him is besides being a good coach I met him kinda randomly back in the day when he was still coaching at TN, he was cool about it and we talked for a few minutes. He didnt seem bothered and was really nice.

Well Butchna, I’m not accusing our staff of doing a poor job of adding transfers. I was making a general statement. Have to carefully evaluate transfers. Our staff did a good job except with Juwan Mitchell who won’t be here next year most likely and wasn’t a good player when he did play. I like all the other transfers
I don’t even regret the Mitchell addition. At the time we were giving snaps to our backup long-snapper and we’re in the dark if Beasley (or even Willis) would be back. When you emphasize that they “have to carefully evaluate transfers.” and they more than effectively meet that burden, I’ll swing with less trepidation and more confidence in that program building direction. I don’t agree with you, Cain, Santa or whomever is dismissing that route as viable. In the antiquated day of transfer yore. you were accepting talents that had made a wrong decision and who were required to go a two year route to correct it. So the majority would be a 3 to play 2 by the time they took an actual snap. Now the vast majority will utilize their ONE TIME free pass early on and be a solid commitment to the program for 3-4 seasons. SOLID is always preferable in builds.

Garner has been terrorizing us for years coming out of nowhere in the 11th hour and flipping recruits to UGA and AU.. he didn’t forget how to recruit overnight.. I bet he pulls a rabbit out of his hat at some point tomorrow and we land someone we’ve already written off

We can only hope.

KY Football borrowing that Basketball money. They got the OG Manning from Auburn. Expected that they land Tavyien Robinson from Va Tech and bogle from FL.

Kiffin has some not so kind words today or yesterday maybe about Transfer portal. He said it’s highest bid win. Whoever is willing to pay the most gets the transfer. He said first thing out of one players mouth was “here is what I got in NIL” in a what are you going to do for me… I think we know the player he is referring to lol. He said these kids are told all these things that are not signed contracts and then they will show up to a campus and who knows if they actually get those things.

Hmmm..... feels like I've heard about this somewhere recently... I wonder who this could be about....

Where did I miss that Mitchell wasn't coming back? So if so, he got us to pay/fix his shoulder and then is now taking off?
They’re all insured and our medical staff is on retainer. They don’t get paid more or less to utilize it.

Classic Volnation--- no matter who the coach "look for booms, we are in tight on a lot of guys, final two, we are gonna surprise, we are gonna close strong"..... then whiff, whiff, whiff................................................................. and then "well, this and that excuse, BUT NEXT YEAR, WATCH OUT, we'll be in much better shape..."...................;)

we don't close on some Defense kids and aren't able to secure some key pieces in the portal, then we will most definitely take a step back next season. We simply will not have the horses on defense to compete... yes, on offense we will score points, but our Defense won't be able to get off the field and may lose games in the 4th from imploding from being tired and no depth. Demz tha facts... Just look at this season's defense in many games, and it will be worse next season...Sorry.
I am probably blocked by you, because you never respond to my comments. Nevertheless, this is a more serious inquiry. Are you okay? My DMs are open if you need to chat about something. I only ask that because you are the most negative poster I have ever witnessed on this website and I just want to know if I can help.

After everything this program has been through, we need to learn to not live and die with every recruit and every recruiting class.

We’ve seen highly ranked classes, and the coaches who secured them ended up failing miserably. I’m done getting too high or low on signing days.

I’m more concerned with / interested in having little to no staff turnover, minimal roster attrition, and steady roster building.

I don’t think we are going to recruit our way out of this mess. We’ve tried that a few times now, and as fans we hung on every recruit’s thread with bated breath. I think we pull out of this mess via consistency and continuity.

At some point we have to chill out and enjoy the ride.

Y’all remember when people wanted to fire Burns at the beginning of the year for drops? Thank goodness that dude is still around. He is one of the few closing down these flip watches. Squirrel would be gone without him. We need to get him on defensive recruits.

Consider the football intelligence of the people saying that at the beginning and it becomes easier to laugh about them.

I could not have said it better myself.
