Defense looks aggressive and better but still multiple lapses on 3rd down especially 3rd and 5+ are beyond disappointing

They’re gonna murder us, but a subset will talk themselves into believing we’ll turn into a team we just aren’t and then they’ll meltdown and show their rears. It’s like clockwork.

This team doesn't even need to think about UF, UGA or BAMA. This team needs to focus on what we can win. Recruiting will have to get us to the big games. Right now we have what we have and that's a less talented team than those three.

Officiating was wretched- you are correct. Blaming Heupel for not challenging is asinine. College game has automatic review. We reviewed other calls that were much clearer, so why not that call? This, along with Bama slanted officiating, makes me lose all faith in what I am watching.

Sometimes, it's just ridiculous. Many feel that ADs should be more aggressive in their communication with the conference about blatantly poor officiating. When it's especially egregious, let the coach give direct answers in interviews. Sweeping it under the rug and discouraging coaches from being honest fixes nothing.

honest to god. Never going to the game again: they hype you up every time to lose. It’s ridiculous. We are a blower average team. Meaning below average 2 win SEC teams.

I agree. We messed up a lot we can control that cost us the game, but the refs were indefensible.

The reaction is kinda crazy when most non-Vol fans predicted we would lose this game. Everyone predicted us to go between 5-7 and 7-5. 7-5 looks very unlikely now, but 6-6 is still on the table. I would much rather watch what I did today than what I watched the past 3 years. The team played extremely hard and is very likable. Disappointed, but such is life as a Vol fan. The reality is, despite sunshine pumpers trying to manifest it, we were never going to be good this year.

They didn’t give up rushing most of the game. It was passing. If you want to discuss one late third down, then go for it. But that’s disingenuous. The rushing defense was outstanding. Just nitpick all you want.

If Milton is out I’m excited to see what HB can do in this offense. For the first time in a while we are scheming guys open repeatedly. He throws a catchable ball. The Milton miss on their broken coverage was so telling. Hooker can’t throw downfield, great runner. Just think we need to get HB off the shelf and see if hes a gamer. If Milton is healthy maybe I have a different opinion. I love going deep and going for the jugular. But man he is missing so many deep balls at some point why even throw it

Benefit of playing HB is that everyone at least feels like we are building for the future, but that’s just assuming he isn’t horrible. Being 3rd on depth chart for 2nd coaching staff is concerning.
