Question for anyone who is good at player evaluation.

Does Squirrel our WR recruit have the type of breakaway speed we've seen from a few of those Bama receivers? The kind of speed that given just a sliver of light they are gone?

Seems Bama has at least one every year, would really like to have one here..
Yes

Doesn't go as far as you think. To keep up, you can only spend what's earned over the inflation rate, and that's after taxes. Assuming 10% return and 4% inflation, after taxes and reinvestment you'd net $40-50k.

But very few would even do that, much like lottery winners who generally end up more broke than before.
Sign me up for $40-50k as a college student, and $40-50k on top of whatever I make when I graduate and get a job.

Yeah, this financial knowledge is all well and good for us.. but to a broke college student something is always better than nothing. Can’t get around it. Money is going to be the sole motivating factor for most of these kids. Especially ones who grew up poor to begin with. 40-50k is probably more than at least half of these kids parents make

Joe Milton seems to be a good teammate. I've heard nothing to the contrary. He looked to have a good attitude on the bench and was encouraging teammates the whole game. He always seems involved and upbeat in the practice updates that we see as well.

I hope my read is true. It's refreshing to see after 4 years of this kind of stuff:

They also didn’t get a QB commit in this class. They did get Max Johnson from the warmed meatloaf section of the portal but I don’t think he is it. QB position had been their Achilles heel before and since Manziel and it looks like it will continue to be an issue….
Unfortunately they did get Conner Weigman, who looked pretty good in the UA All-Star game last weekend.

If Banks leaves, I want us to throw the brinks truck at a true and proven defensive coordinator. Our offense paired with an elite defense would be so tough for opposing teams. We need to find our Dave Aranda

I agree...somewhat. I'm not sure if that sort of turnover in defensive staff would be ideal, and if you pull in a Aranda type without letting him pick his guys you're hamstringing him from the get go.

BJM could also very well be that next elite DC, so if elevating him keeps the rest of the staff in place and he brings in another LB coach would that be the better option (at least right now) for keeping continuity with current roster and scheme moving into next year.

Also I'd be curious who you'd define as proven DCs that fit the bill.

Re: TAM shelling out major $ to the ‘22 class…
I have always wondered what that creates as far as the locker room dynamic for the team as a whole.

If I’m 3* LB from two classes ago who has worked his ass off grinding in the program for a couple years to get a chance to play and never got anything other than the scholarship, is there resentment to these new highly-paid and unproven “kids”?
Is there pressure from a coach to play these kids who have arrived on campus with a million bucks in their pocket and expectations of immediate contribution?
What about the other 50-60 players on the team who are not super compensated? Do they keep exerting themselves fully to achieve team results?

I see this whole scenario as teeming with opportunities for chaos and division within a team. I don’t care how many super 5*s you have on a team, if they’re not pulling in the same direction, you’re not going to win week in and week out in an unforgiving environment like the SEC.

* I could be absolutely wrong on this assessment. Just thinking about the whole NIL scenario that everyone is salivating and fretting about from the dynamic of how it affects teenagers/young men personally, and on a team level.

Super Coach!

...Let's see, we've thrown brinks trucks at Jim Chaney and Bob Shoop in the past half decade or so.

I think we can do it again!

Lol

How do you get all of that out of me saying "true and proven defensive coordinator?"

IMHO, all the above plus touchdowns from Hendo with addition of Neyor !
