The Chargers' coach Staley was a GA on Dooley's staff, right?

If so, it makes total sense that he would find a way to botch the ending of a game the way he did by calling that time out.

That really sucks. No offense to Cam Sutton on the Steelers, but I was hoping for Josh Palmer on the Chargers.

Brandon Staley (former Vol assistant) has a lot to learn as a HC in the NFL. Lots of questionable decision-making all season long. This isn't the only game where he blew it.

He let the play clock go all the way down, he just wanted to make sure his guys didn't botch the final play. He wasn't saving time. Ironically, they let Jacobs get 12 yards on an obvious run play after that time out.

Not the Raiders TO, the Chargers TO.
Yes, the Chargers called a TO with 2 seconds left on the play clock. Not the game clock, the play clock. They weren't trying to save time or they would have called the TO with 40 seconds on the playclock and over 1 minute left on the game clock.

It was a bad TO.

Was kind of dumb. It cost him
No it didn't. Why are people making this asinine assertion? The 12 yard run they gave up on the mail it in run play right after the time out cost them. Staley could have called the TO with over a minute left in the game, but he waited till the clock ran all the way down to make sure his guys were all lined up for the final play.

Edit @tnvols72 sorry for the hostile reply, should have just said I think you have it wrong. The raiders didn't come out of the time out throwing, so I don't think the time out changed anything. The massive gain on 3rd down caused the field goal, not the TO

I think the Raiders was fine with letting the clock run out. 3 straight run plays tells me they was going to let it run out and then he calls the TO and still could not stop the run play.

He was trying to prevent the 12 yard run on 3rd down to make sure they stayed out of field goal range. It wasn't a dumb TO, it was dumb execution to still allow the 12 yard run even after the TO.
Whatever he thought he was trying to do did not work at all. I do not know know if he was trying to prevent the 12 yard run or the pass but he should have not called at TO

I hardly play anymore but used to be a 2-3 handicap. My lowest round on a really good course was at Kelly Plantation in Destin from the tips shooting 68. I have shot lower a few times but on crap courses. The casual fans really don’t understand how unbelievable these guys are even those that fight to keep or make their tour card.
Damn good at Kelly! Hard trac.

He wont make it. Stubborn analytics only guy. Seen enough this year to say he won’t last 3 years. He will do stupid crap to cost wins. That team easily should have 2-3 more wins if not for his stupid refusal to kick
