Who are realistic upgrades over Barnes? Oats and Pearl are always the names I see, but anything they could do here, they are already doing at their schools. Letting him go is going to make us look bad nationally, again, whether people want to admit it or not. We have tried just throwing money around, and that did not work. I feel like the odds are much greater that we go backwards.

I think Barnes is here till 70 (don’t ask where I got that number, I don’t even know, just a nice number I guess?) then once he retires, I wouldn’t mind going after Lanier.

He will leave on his terms.

We won’t fire him, imo…..I would rather that he fix his faults but he appears unwilling or can’t figure it out.

For everyone unhappy with Barnes, best case scenario is him choosing to walk away on his own and just retiring. He's a successful coach, and Tennessee is not a traditional basketball power. Firing him would give Tennessee a black eye. It'd be a redux of the Fulmer firing.

No.... I want to watch exciting basketball Lanier has been with Barnes too long to have a different mind set.

Our guys play up tight and afraid to make mistakes because they know they will get pulled and not go back in with Rick as coach.

I think we will either have most of this squad back next year or there will be a lot of portal guys. And that's not a good thing.

I mean.....Auburn isn’t a traditional power either.

Seems like another good time to mention…Transfer Portal is a mechanism to gauge interest from other schools. Doesn’t mean they’ve transferred. I hate, for the kids’ sake, that this is disclosed to the public.
It does mean they've lost their scholarship though. If coaches are trying to manage their roster numbers, some of these guys are gonna sh*t in their hat.

Maybe, maybe not. They still have their current term scholarship guaranteed. You're right any future term is up to the staff...could go either way.

I think having a 10-14 day private window would be nice. Let kids hop in to see their options, if they want, without having to risk everything and everyone knowing. Coaches can speak to ANYONE they want and let their agent run wild. Student-Athletes should at least have something somewhat comparable.

Frank's or get out.
