Ding ding ding.

It was a jeopardy question and Hawkeye fans were big mad these trivia experts didn't know the answer. 1 person guessed Des Moines (my guess too) and the other 2 didn't even venture a guess. Then all of twitter came flying in to remind them nobody ever thinks about Iowa except for 1 day every 4 years.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure I even knew there was an Iowa City πŸ˜… By the looks of the responses, guess I'm just another moran.
I only know it because of wrestling. Iowa is one of the top programs in the country. I watched quite a few of their matches when I was in high school, I just remember it from the intro.

That's why Iowa stands for: I Owe the World an Apology.

Love how we've decided to be tough and mean down low. Uros has been a dog all season, at least physically.

And now this. If you're not going to be the most talented, you at least have to be the toughest.

What's impressive to me...is Auburn is 2nd in the conference in rebounding at 40.2. So we not only out rebounded them, but held them to just 31 rebounds for the game while grabbing 54. They also lead the conference in blocks per game at 8.2, they still got 8 on us but we had a huge day getting 6 ourselves (1.5 over our average).

So we played well above our typical selves in the "big man" area rebounding at +17 and sending back an additional +1.5 blocks.

The ZZ effect… he’s like a tiny JJ. 🐢

Someone remind me -

Didn't we, by all accounts, like David Johnson here? At least up until he left and threw (accurate) shade at cornbread.

At least that's how I remember it. Would seem to be a good hire.
He would be great under Heupel. He has deep recruiting ties to Memphis and the Baton Rouge area. He also just happens to be a pretty good coach. It didn't take him long to figure out Gump but some of our fans don't like him because he jumped off the ship quickly. As it turns out, he was right all along.

Actually the big change was in our bigs

Fulky had 9 (4.8 pg typically)
BHH had 8 (2.8 pg typically)
Uros had 7 (3.6 pg typically)

Those 3 alone had 24 rebounds and they usually only average 11.2 combined. I think Santi's 2 blocks were the biggest swing in that area. The first game where him being 6'3" was an advantage since KD, Green, and Jasper are all 6'1" or shorter.

David Johnson would be a good hire. Seem to remember him as being a solid recruiter and someone the kids like to play for. On the flip side, Stacy Searels is an underwhelming hire for a defending National Champ.

I've been to Iowa City. My wife has family in NW Iowa, and we drove our family one summer to visit for a reunion. Iowa City is in the southeast part of the state, so we stayed a night and traveled across the state the next day. Enjoyed dinner and beer there. Never seen so much corn and soybeans in my life. Literally nothing in much of that state.
