I think it’s funny how Saban wins a national title almost every other year with 4-5 different types of QB’s, but yet we act like Milton is the only QB that can run ours, and he is the savior.

Bama’s last 3 QB’s:
- Hurts: pure dual threat
- Jones: pure pocket passer
- Young: good at both

If Milton is the best QB so be it, but I’m tired of hearing he is the only capable one to run the offense, and at this moment in time, Heupel’s decision to keep playing Milton and hoping he can change he inconsistency problems could be his downfall. Will be interesting to see how much time he gives Milton because if he rides with him most of the year and the kid doesn’t improve, everyone is going to be livid since he was wasting his time on someone that has never improved since being in college.

Let’s say we get to week 7 and we are 3-3 or he’ll even 2-4 heading into the OM game and Heupel announces Milton is the starting QB, how are y’all feeling? (We beat SC by 3 and lose by 21+ to Missouri)

All hypothetical

Not true. He is throwing better down the field than Hooker. And I don’t care if Milton is 100/100 in practice. He hasn’t connected one in a game.

You're basing this on what exactly though?

I mean, I've not been to any in person practices and the highlights are edited so who knows how a full day of throwing looks. I know Hooker came off the bench cold tossed for 71.4% 188 and 2 TDs and ran for 49 yards. At this point we really don't know how HB looks in this offense, we have a spring game and that's it. What he did last year isn't an indicator of how well he does in this system.

I have my opinions of Milton & Hooker, basing those just on the 2 games we've played this year. So until Bailey gets on the field and runs some series in this system with live action (even against a TTU is better than a spring game) then I'll just wait to form an opinion.

It’s been 2 games… say what you want but this isn’t the same staff.

Nobody is infallible, but at least give them a chance to make mistakes/correct them as needed. Everyone complaining about qb’s pretends this staff has been trotting JG out there for 3 years when in reality we’ve seen 2 qb’s in 2 games.

Hope some of you guys aren’t bosses. You’d fire one guy for bad performance then can the next guy after 1 mistake because he reminded you of the last guy. Pretty ridiculous line of thinking at this point in JH’s tenure.
I don’t think many are doing that. At least I’m not. I’m simply of the opinion that if we want to run the ball, go with Hooker. If we want to pass, go with HB. Pretty simple. I still hope Milton can figure it out bc he obviously has looked better in practice

How about we just say someone that can move the ball? Milton hasn’t done then since being in college.

also, Our RB’s moved the ball in week 1, so I don’t need people telling me Milton moved the ball game 1.

I’m more sensitive to it bc I coach/have coached several different youth sports…. One time I got talked into coaching the boys middle school soccer team…. We were not that talented but we got put in a division where we would get our butts kicked… instead of whining and getting moved down… I kept us in that league bc I knew they reseeded for tournaments and it was better to lose the regular season and win a championship then it was to dominate the regular season and get spanked in the tournament…. I explained this to all the parents and players.

We got destroyed in several games….. parents tried to remove me as coach….. later on the players tried to replace me with the female science teacher…..I stayed with it and we ended up beating 3 teams including the cross county rivals that we hadn’t beat in years…. We got reseeded for a tournament where we made it to the championship game before falling…. At that point, I was commended for the amazing job I had done and asked to come back next season.

That feels like the way fans behave…. We criticize and try to make decisions based on the most minuscule of details…. Trust the guy coaching and when he proves he can’t get it done then we will move onto the next one…. We just have to make the right hire…. Hope JH is it.
Are you Ted Lasso?

Ok…. I keep allowing myself to get brought back into this convo but I really want to move on…. I just support whoever JH picks…. Right now I’m a Milton guy…. 2nd half of Pitt…. I was a Hooker man( well I have always been a hooker man)….. if/when Bailey gets to start…. I will be a Bailey man.

You forgot about Tua

Also the fact that those QBs have the best protection in CFB, possibly ever

The best weapons to throw to, possibly a top 5 wr unit ever for Tua and Mac

5 star studs to hand the ball to or dump off to for relief

And an elite defense that kept them in positions to win

Also, unquestionably better coaching

All those things don’t matter though.

I coached a Mighty Gents boys' basketball team when I was in high school. We qualified for the city tournament one year. We had a player nick-named "Sweet" who was our team. That's how sports works isn't it? I am sure that impacted my sports wisdom which I take precious effort to try to dispense on this board.

Go Vols. Rigorous physically challenging SEC schedule up-coming.

Not what I was meaning…. Carry on

Heupel doesn’t mind the over throws. He likes the aggressive style and wants his QB to be fearless and let it rip.

He likes everything Milton is doing.

I would really like to know if this is your impression or from a credible source. If the later, I have no desire to know who the source is.

I'll say this about Milton. He overthrows the deep ball a lot, but not always. The fact that he can chuck the rock 70 yards flat footed is always going to be a threat that the defense must account for. This offense is designed to stretch the field sideline to sideline and endzone to endzone. Milton is the most capable if that is the goal. The second the defense doesn't respect that deep ball it could be the moment Milton accidentally hits the guy in stride. But from a fan perspective, it sure did look like the offense clicked much better once Hooker was in.

It was intended to be a "compare and contrast" comment more than an amplifying one. "I feel better, so much better, since I laid my burden down."
It was more about how people make judgements on very little information…. We have argued for days when none of us have been at practice and seen the guys compete….I have no burden…. Coaching youth is what I love to do….. bringing out the female science teacher was a new one and still makes me laugh/smile to this day.

Pretty glaring difference: each of those are elite at what they do. If we had an elite pocket passer (Bailey isn't) then the offense would work well. The type of QB is not the issue

That is the part that wears me out. And it happens at all other aspects of life. People make definitive declarations with minuscule info/observations. And they don't see any issue with doing that.

Tell me about it. Wasn't talking about your burden. Rigorous physical SEC schedule incoming.
