Recruiting Forum Football Talk IV

Yeah, I heard one specific story of a family who has had sideline tickets for 50 years. They weren’t required to make a donation for those seats in the 1970’s. Anyway, they got an email saying they were being reassigned. In a panic they offered to pay whatever donation necessary to keep the seats, but were told the reassignment was final.

Danny brought his entire fundraising team from UCF and has run off/irritated a lot of people. It’ll be treated as growing pains if we start winning in football. It’ll be a turning point against him if we don’t.

So some of us have been plunking down a very significant donation for the privilege of buying tickets, while others have been grandfathered into paying $0...for decades? I'm not as sympathetic and certainly not outraged.

Agree. Dobbs may have never played at UT if all the QBs didn't get hurt in front of him. And it had to happen 2 years in a row before he got the permanent QB1 spot.

Riley Ferguson would have played if he hadn't gotten hurt. Ferguson then had 2 good years at Memphis, so it really wasn't a stretch that he had tools. Dobbs was a QB that needed a redshirt though. We needed him to not play in year one or two to get where he did in year four. If he was able to redshirt, 2017 would have been much better and would have probably saved Butch's job.

I get both sides of it, no doubt about it.

What I don’t understand is picking this fight in a year when ticket sales were struggling to begin with.

Wait, did DW really do that? Now seems like the perfect time to sh1t on the season ticket holders. Hey, sales are then lowest they’ve been in 15 years, and even those are propped up by deferrals, but let’s still Double Gaulden the fan who bought in for another year.

All they have to do is pay for the ticket to keep them, and they have been doing that for years and years. It's a balancing test. Maybe someone else will make the donation for those seats, so the schools makes more that way. The fan who bought in for one more year is not really offering much to the school when they sit at the 50 yard line.

I can understand frustration if someone offered to pay the actual donation to keep them, but I can absolutely understand why it is being changed.

They want Milton in SEC play. Seems they'd like to let him keep throwing deep until he figures it out because that's the offense they want. If they don't trust the other two, they'll continue to ride the upside CJH sees in Milton.

I just hope Milton's upside shows up and I hope we aren't 2-5 and still waiting on his upside. lol

It’s been 2 games… say what you want but this isn’t the same staff.

Nobody is infallible, but at least give them a chance to make mistakes/correct them as needed. Everyone complaining about qb’s pretends this staff has been trotting JG out there for 3 years when in reality we’ve seen 2 qb’s in 2 games.

Hope some of you guys aren’t bosses. You’d fire one guy for bad performance then can the next guy after 1 mistake because he reminded you of the last guy. Pretty ridiculous line of thinking at this point in JH’s tenure.

I haven't seen people calling for anyone to get fired. If so I got them on ignore where they belong. lol I think that's reading a little more into what we are talking about.

People can share opinions. I have no issue with that. I am pointing out that I do not utilize Freak's amazing message board (really Freak is a rockstar) for listening to the uninformed opinions of the UT fanbase. I love to hear about updates on recruits and practices. I know if that was all that was on here Freak would have to sell his summer home on the beach. I am just pointing out that it wears on you to hear that drum pounded incessantly over and over. I don't want to listen to some randos at Walmart discuss their opinions about how to fix the impending economic crisis either.
Sounds like you’re in the wrong place then, champ.

I personally don't dislike you. I do think you try to find ways to make things look worse than they are. I think you have some good points and some I don't agree with. Like most other posters on here, LOL. Well, wait, there's plenty who have no good points, but you are not one of those.

Hey you don't talk about my pal invol that way.

I think that de1 is correct that, in general, the Boise State football brand is widely known and respected. They are on tv a lot and seem to beat a P5 team at least once every other year. I could not have named the Boise head coach a year ago, but if someone asked me in general whether whoever their head coach is was good, I would have said yeah based on team results.

We didn’t lose because of Milton. He made up for an overthrow with a run to the 3 yard line that we squandered away with stupid penalties.

We lost by 7 left 21 on the board because of overthrows. Say what you want about the run to the three. We lost because of overthrows. Game would of been a blowout if he hits those throws.

Two weeks, and this place are going to be crazy. After we beat Tennessee Tech 70 to 0 and Alabama destroys Florida by 28 everyone’s gonna be convinced we’re gonna roll into Gainesville for the win next week.

after our inevitable loss to Florida, this place is going to be ready to burn it to the ground, fire the quarterbacks, fire the staff, and set fire to the couch

gonna be fun to watch it in real time

No doubt there are always some who will do what your saying in your post but if you are talking about some of us who are frustrated with our QB play, I don't think I have seen anyone wanting to fire CH. It is a discussion board and we will always be talking about where we feel improvements need to be. I will say it once more, I fully support CH and I know he doesn't have the QB yet that he would like to run his O and I will be supporting him after we upset UF and the rest of the season. :)

Lol you say what you want, but blaming the game on one person is ridiculous 😂. What about Hookers two turnovers or Jeremy Banks 15 yd penalty that allowed Pittsburgh to score or the terrible execution on 4th and 1…..

But again, you have an agenda.

We're probably gonna see a couple trick plays tried out Saturday or they may wait til Florida.

What's the last trick play you remember us running?

You didn’t know that many posters on message boards know better than highly paid coaches? Heupel and his staff spend every waking moment evaluating, coaching, teaching, studying film, etc. But if they want to know how to properly choose a QB they just need to ask VN. Can’t believe they haven’t figured that out yet. Idiots.
The problem is the idiots did indeed look like idiots right with regards to the last staff and their qb decisions.

I'm not saying Bailey was a future Heisman candidate or anything. But he did look better than Guarantano when he finally got to play despite the last staff evaluating, coaching, teaching, studying film, ect. Vol fans have been trained to be skeptical after 10 years of dumb**s coaches.

So...two weeks from finally getting to go to Sequoia National Park and visit the Giant Forest..and a couple of lightning strikes start a huge fire and shut down the park...worse they are less than a mile from the Giant Forest area where the biggest tree on the planet resides..so sad.

I am way more bummed out about this than I am the football team...😥

Some good news..at this point the Kings Canyon side is still open, and we are booked at the John Muir lodge in the Grant Grove area..hopefully that doesn't get flushed also.

Two weeks from a lifelong dream...two freakin weeks..😥

I just took a job as a substitute teacher while I’m in a program to get my teaching certificate post-degree.. which is me basically admitting defeat on my history degree being useful for anything other than teaching

But I asked some of my old teachers at my high school what I’m walking into and he said it’s a hell hole. It’s the biggest school in the state, and very diverse. Racial tensions “haven’t been this high here since the early 90’s.”

Great.

The truth is that the defensive collapse is what is really to blame...34 points should have been way more than enough to beat Pitt.
