Isn't he the guy though that was videoed shouting the n-word?

I'll mess with a lot of musicians...even Kanye has some wild social and political positions...but he's one of the greatest producers alive...others like Rage are far off to the other side...ok that's fine, not harming anybody...but then take a guy like Ice Cube. He's shown himself to be unapologetically anti-semitic...so, he doesn't get a pass and I'd rather not support him financially in any tangential way.

There's a certain barrier I can't get past. Regular politics, don't care.
Out of context, yes.
In video obtained by TMZ and published Tuesday, a rowdy Wallen and his friends pull up in cars to his Tennessee home. As Wallen heads inside, he shouts to a friend, "Hey, take care of this "p---- ass motherf-----. ... Take care of this p---- ass n-----."

TMZ reported that Wallen, 27, and a group of friends were seen Sunday night partying in Nashville. When they returned home late, a doorbell camera captured them honking their horns and causing a scene. A neighbor then pulled out a cellphone to record a video in which Wallen can be heard yelling the slur, according to the website.
In my opinion he didn't intend it as a racial slur at all, and was talking about one of his buddies.

I just eat the berries right off the coffee bush with my mouth. Takes out the middleman. Then I piss out perfect-temp coffee. More nutrients. Spiritual.

None for me, thanks.

Some of y'all aren't mad that an artist you like is openly political, you're mad that the politics don't resonate with your own.

That's fine, but just call it what it is. There are loads of artists who are very openly political both now and for the last century. That's true for country music especially.

I've basically gotten to the point of not caring at all. Do I like the song/your music? Yes? I'll listen. Don't care if openly political or not (like Dolly) - I respect the choice to be either way. I also don't care which nutty position you fall on unless it's truly, insanely nutty. I don't change the song when Kid Rock comes on because he's openly conservative, I turn it off because his music sucks (cept that one with Sheryl Crow - that's a whole vibe). At the same time I don't avoid listening to Eminem because he's liberal. It's music, we are supposed to enjoy it. Same with movies - I don't avoid watching something that has an actor/actress I have differing views from. Jmo

The rest of my post is not aimed at you but just using your post as a springboard here. Personally I agree with your statement. I don’t let politics ruin my music, sports, movies, etc, regardless of what views are presented.

Now, to the overall point of your post the same should be said for athletes and actors then. All I ever hear is “get politics out of my sports” or “actors and athletes should stick to their jobs” etc, etc… but if we’re saying we should just deal with the politics in music or ignore the politics in music then we should also be saying the same with the politics in sports, movies, actors getting on their soap boxes, etc.

Unfortunately that’s not what I usually see though, from either political party if we’re being honest.

Yes, he yelled “n***a” to one of his buddies, but I don’t think that’s makes him a racist. I mean, I’ve sang along to every word of plenty Dre, Snoop, 2Pac over the years. I sang it in the songs but that didn’t make me into a racist…I was just in the culture.

By the way, we need a commit. This topic is for the birds…which ironically was so the topic 2 days ago.

whoa pal. you were the one shaking your fist at the sky not too long ago. now youre floating in the Carribean.

Im happy for you. doesnt mean us middle classers cant dream.
The only reason I get to do anything is because my mom left me some money and made me promise her I would use it to really live....I am as poor as dirt and the current situation is making any future plans to travel untenable for me.

whatever the reason if it makes you happy, that's great.

great memory of your mom also.

Okay smart***......

Cody Jinks
Tyler Childers
Jason Isbell (yes, the same one that your boy wiped his *** with one of his songs)
Matt Mason
Whiskey Myers
Jamey Johnson
Chris Stapleton
Colter Wall
Sturgill Simpson
Turnpike Troubadors

There's ten easy ones off the top of my head who make your boy sound like William Hung.
Nikki Lane should be on there, along with Daniel Romano.

Simpson is the best thing to happen to country/western music in 30 years; though, I doubt his hard-core country fans liked Sound and Fury. I've loved ALL his albums...have all of them on vinyl.
