Armor brand vienna and OPossum sardines are both occasionally something I'll have for a snack. And I prefer the sardines in their own oil, not the other ones with mustard or ketchup.

For hurricane season in New Orleans, back before Katrina, the local supermarket chain Schwegmann's used to stock up on foods that could be eaten straight from the can when power might be out for a week or two after a hurricane.

One summer, I saw a huge stack of--no lie--"Imitation Faux Vienna Sausages!" These weren't your Red Bird brand "Imitation Vienna Sausages." These were imitation faux!

I pulled down a can and turned it to find the list of ingredients.

Brothers... it read like a veterinary dissection lab test. I saw names of cow and pig parts I'd never heard of!
(but I still bet they tasted good)
