It’s 9:40 on a Thursday night and we are not even half through the first round of the draft. Remind me again why in the hell would I stay up until midnight to watch the draft? When it was on Saturday it was fun to have a reason to day drink and watch, but a Thursday night?

I grew up dirt poor and my mother would fry some bologna until it formed a little cup and then put mashed potatoes in it---she called it bologna cups and we ate them on a regular basis. It was a different time in the 50's. We were happy to get the simplest things. Sounds like some of our privileged people only ate steak as a kid

I can’t stand salmon because of salmon croquettes. Canned salmon is cheap and one can would provide the protein for a meal for my Mother and me. I always ate it because it was that wait until breakfast. I have never been one to skip meals unless absolutely necessary…

Single Mother in the 60s and 70s, my Mother kept a strict budget, never missed any payment of any bill. Before my parents got divorced, my Mother took my two sisters and me to Pensacola and paid for it with change that she had put away. She was scared that if she changed the coins into bills that my Dad would find it and drink it away. The funny thing is that we didn’t stop at the bank to get bills. She paid for gas, food, hotels all in change. Even at 3 years old, I remember the looks that she got when she paid. The hotel was seriously funny. The change was mostly quarters and half dollars, but she paid one rude waitress in nickels and dimes. 1965.

oh, and Batman1948, round steak was very reasonably priced at $1.25 per pound. Sale price <$1.00. We did eat steak, but definitely not high falluttin’ steak.

Not a Lions fan, but I don't think it's a bad pick. Williams is an explosive WR. Once he heals up, he'll be ready to go when the Lions draft their QB next year. Goff is not their long term QB, and IMO, there's not a franchise QB in this draft. So take a WR that will be a weapon for your future QB.
