Now we're at the point where an apex predator needs to be reintroduced to Tennessee. No the black bear is not an apex predator because they're too smart to hunt live prey for food
I think the cougar/puma/mountain lions are starting to slowly come back on their own...but you will never see wolves reintroduced in Tennessee...IMO.

Right now Red Wolves are being planned to be reintroduced. I agree with the Mountain Lion aspect. Lotta reports of them but none confirmed as of now. I think they would be last to be introduced (if ever) because of the amount of tourists the visit East Tennessee and West NC

They better find some way out of the way place to reintroduce them...this ain't the west where you can drive 100 miles without seeing another human being in a lot of places.

Close to a decade ago (maybe longer) Red Wolves escaped Bays Mountain and thrived for about a month if I remember correctly. They were eventually caught. I agree that with all the farming that goes on in ET and WNC it will be hard for an apex predator to establish itself
