I don't want to offer wrath I will just mention... mountain lion (Puma concolor) has never exhibited melanism and their species name "concolor" means "one color" because throughout their range (tip of South America to Canada) they have the same coat color. The Panthera genus exhibits melanism. When people say "black panther," that generally refers to a melanistic African leopard in Africa or a melanistic jaguar in Central and South America.

Poor lighting can play tricks on your eyes, and it can also make things appear larger than they are, but black mountain lions do not exist and have never existed.
@Weezer moves to the edge of his seat.

What about E Tennessee? Id love to see Mtn Lions reintroduced.

Don't start this today 😂
Look there's no telling what some dang crazy Joe Exotics have let loose in the states. Aoudad, axis deer, sika deer, pythons...not too much of a stretch to think someone's kitty got too expensive to feed. Plus, it's been a slow morning on here.

Shrug. It was mid-afternoon. Perhaps shadow played tricks on color.

Little doubt on size. It was standing next to a known shrub when it comes to size comparison.

Imagine being alive back then to see undammed rivers and streams, old growth Appalachia, untouched scenery.

Salmon stocked rivers, Buffalo abounding, no power lines.
True it sounds awesome to see that now imagine having to do the work to cut the roads to get into the wilderness. Tennessee was probably heavily wooded and as wild as could be. May make it a mile per day in certain areas, then you get to the plateau and have to figure a way over that from Eat Tennessee.

That's the 2nd person I've seen predict Levis to go #1. The hype is on a runaway train. Though I did rewatch the UK game last night. I can see the upside, but man he just doesn't seem like a top 10 guy to me. Nothing jumps off the screen, just seems overall solid and mobile, but nothing spectacular.
He may be the third best QB in the division

I believe the TVA has lots of old photos from the Job Corps cutting those very roads. Lots of men and women died.

I have a friend that his wifes family owns a ranch that abuts the Eastern side of Yellowstone in Wyoming. They run a ranch where as he puts it "City folk can play Cowboy for a week". Anyway he was telling me about the Grizzles and Wolves around their ranch. He said up until about 20 years ago it was rare to see a Grizzle on the ranch and Wolves were not that big of a deal but now when his daughters, wife, farm hand or whom ever goes to feed the horses (they raise them for the business) they have got to carry a gun. He said you never know what or how many are on the other side of the barn.

He also said that every person that lives in Los Angles or New York should have a bear or a wolf that lives really really close. He said it gives you a different perspective for sure.

probably a bit uneasy being on the other side of the predator vs prey equation......

Hope they carry a 45-70
Great bear gun

Bingo. The problem with the Smokies is that it's actually fairly poor habitat as contiguous old growth. The majority of game are concentrated on the edge of the park and high-use areas where there's openings and food. But since its a national park you can't do any habitat management. Could look to Cherokee or Pisgah National Forests, but every time they try to get a logging operations to create habitat it gets hit with a lawsuit but well-meaning buffoons.
It amazes me how many hippies and environmental people didn't pay attention during high school biology

@nicksjuzunk doesn’t threaten to knife.
It was his special invitation to a bladed workout. Distinct difference in the eyes of the law.

One is assault with a deadly weapon, the other is an unfortunate injury (injuries) sustained during a workout…

With @nicksjuzunk’s method, he can even bill the knifed individual for his expert tutelage.

Just like when this Memphian brings along a bladed medical instrument to a similar event…I have the invitee sign a procedural consent form as well as an acknowledgment that their insurance won’t cover the cost of my procedures. They can also be billed.

We have learned that it’s better to collect our fees up front…tricky trying to explain it to next of kin you see. 🤠
Not gonna lie… TLDR, but give me cliff notes.

Am I stabbing someone or not?

I lived and worked in Yellowstone, the Park. Yellowstone Lake Lodge had a resident grizzly. When micturating after imbibing fermented yeast and sugar after dusk, one would dodge Bison to arrive at one's accomodations. We prob all should have carried firearms, if it werent illegal.

Plenty of days where I stood alone, pocket knife only waist deep in the Yellowstone or lake, Firehole, Madison or Gallatin with Bison, Eagles, Elk, Deer walking/flying right by me.

Was only scared one time going on a run from Lake to Canyon. Ran up on a Bison. They run 45 mph. Id have been killed. Not sure a pistol wouldve done me any good there.

You will need to explain this further as I did not pay attention in high school biology apparently. You are saying that there is no game in the park because of old growth trees? And we need to clear cut to create habitat for...what exactly?
