Happy BirthdayUT hospital was almost the death of me. Fun fact, May 18th, 2017, I was admitted to UT hospital after going to the ER. I spent like 10 days there, never getting better. Told them to just let me go home. They threatened to have me pulled of the transplant list if I left. When I threatened to leave anyway the finally contacted my liver doctor, thinking he'd convince me to stay. The fact I was in there at least a week before they even bothered to contact my liver doctor at Vanderbilt should tell you something. He asked for my labs, looked at the numbers, and said he wanted me transferred to Vanderbilt ASAP. So I got to take an ambulance ride from UT Hospital here in Knoxville to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. Pretty quick trip as the ambulance driver was doing 95-100 almost the entire trip. Anyway, if left to their own devices, I'm positively convinced the doctors at UT would have let me die. They don't do liver transplants at UT Knoxville, yet for some reason, it never occurred to them to send someone on the liver transplant list to the hospital that does liver transplants. Dumbasses.
Anyway, we're just minutes away from it being May 18th. Five years ago, I went into the hospital here in Knoxville, eventually got transferred to Vandy, and didn't get out of the hospital until July 3rd. My transplant was June 9th. It was October 21st before I finally got to come home to Knoxville. I had to stay in the Nashville area and be monitored after the transplant.
And May 18th is also my birthday.
33 seems low as hell to me. "Would Heupel have warranted a climb at a different school?". Yeah well he didn't take over a different school did he?

The locus classicus:I feel like that is an incredible psychology study. To literally choose "smoke weed" (or insert some other illegal vice) over make millions of dollars playing in the NFL. That we have a brain that can mess that decision up is fascinating to me. I bet there are some good studies that have looked into that type of psychology. It's sad.

During a recent episode of the 247Sports Football Recruiting Podcast, national recruiting analyst Cooper Petagna described Iamaleava’s fit with the Volunteers and how he will translate to the SEC.
"I think he's going to be exceptional," Petagna said. "He's an exceptional talent. He's getting ready to go into a really quarterback-friendly offense with Josh Heupel. You look and see what they've done with Hendon Hooker this past year. It's a guy now in the top 10 in all of major categories in all of college football, and passing efficiency and passing yards as well. So you enter a guy like Nico into that offense with a guy like Josh Heupel, I think it has the makings to be a very dynamic partnership in the future for not only Tennessee but for Nico as well."
Fellow 247Sports’ recruiting analyst Greg Biggins projects Iamaleava as a first-round NFL Draft pick and gave him a pro comparison to former Oregon star and Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota.
“Iamaleava just continues to get better and his upside is as high as anyone in the ’23 class,” Biggins wrote. “He has an athletic 6-5 frame and is not just a talented quarterback but a gifted volleyball player as well. Has made huge strides over the last year in terms of his pocket feel, ability to throw on time and anticipate. He always had a big arm but can now change speeds, go through progressions and make accurate touch throws down the field look easy. He has exceptional escapability and is just as dangerous outside the pocket as he is throwing in it. He’s always a threat to take off and run for big yards when flushed or on designed running plays.
“He’s a tough kid as well who will stand in and take a shot and when he’s running in the open field, he looks more like a big receiver than a signal caller. He’s a natural leader with a high compete level and a great off the field work ethic. There are zero character concerns with him and he’s a future captain who other players gravitate towards. There is not a throw on the field he can’t make, he’s comfortable throwing off-platform or being creative when he needs to be and combined with his rapidly improving football IQ and toughness, he has a chance to be a very special player at the next level and beyond.”
