My point is that he is trying to make a distinction between his players' NIL money and collectives. He's claiming that Bama is completely separate from the NIL contracts, unlke others who are participating in the process and using it as an inducing part of the recruiting process.

He said that he encourages his athletes to get agents and negotiate as much NIL as they can, while the school and staff are completely decoupled from that NIL process. Thus, claiming that ALABAMA doesn't pay players != claiming that his players do not get NIL money. Is he telling the truth? Don't know? Have they been paying players under the table for years? I suspect so. But that is the NIL distinction in his CLAIMS that many people seem to be missing.

I am assuming he is saying his guys' NIL deals are legitimate NIL deals... While everyone else's deals are just thinly disguised pay to play deals.

The reality is that he's a hypocrite and all NIL deals are thinly disguised pay to play deals.

Saban is mad because recruiting isn’t the same. It’s all about the money. He has big money schools like A&M throwing around more money than Alabama can offer. He can’t just convince someone to come play at Alabama because it’s the best school anymore. And he’s a hypocrite knowing damn well that his big stars in the last decade got $100k and a brand new Dodge Charger for signing the dotted line.

There’s no “suspect” to it. He’s developed it into a fine art and he’s way more deep into that process than any coach benefiting from collectives doing their thing. There’s a good reason he got into car dealerships.

He played the game better than anyone for decades, now he's upset he's behind the 8-ball. Instead of going after those that tied his hands he went after a peer who was trailblazing the landscape like Saban had done for so long. This will be used against Saban in the future, it was a really bad look for Saban.

So AL has been paying players for a long time.

It’s not exactly a secret….they got busted for paying Albert means at the same time…. We were paying players….Saban has a good system…. Just like we did during the 90’s…. It doesn’t work with everyone paying more than he can.
