Which game was this, please?
Not sure, I was a kid. We were sitting in some cheap seat bleachers on the 3rd base side, my dad had his radio to listen to the game while we were there. I know it was bottom of the ninth when he hit the grand slam and everyone went bonkers. I was young enough though that I could have some details wrong. Would love someone to confirm.

The college football transfer portal fits we love in 2022

Still time for some moves, but @Weezer may have been right when he was criticizing the staff not chasing or missing on transfer studs early. We can still bolster depth at various positions, but difference-makers seem to be absent from the portal.

The other read to make on this is that it is possible that our staff is very happy with where we are from a roster management standpoint and want to employ a longer strategy to get us where we need to be for Heupel-Vols 2.0 in 2023 and beyond. Chessboard not checkerboard.

Yea, I rotate bt each glute and each quad, feel like a pin cushion tho. There’s a newer cream that has proven to be more equal and regulated release tho I may try.
Yeah I’ve tried about every muscle you can just to see I guEss it’s just a mental thing. Really? Doc started me on cream but did not touch my numbers, plus kids

Ooh! We are only a couple episodes from finishing it for the 2nd time. Loooove that show.

Where did you read about him? All I've heard about is all the coke and alcohol and how he'd be a completely different person on set because of all the substances...but as soon as the director called action he'd snap perfectly into character every time. Pretty wild...and amazing.

I'm still (sort of) hoping the remake still happens...though it sure wouldn't be the same without Marty. He's my favorite character.

Perspective.

We have examples staring us in the face of how to return to national relevance in football. We also have one showing us how to become the #1 and possibly the GOAT depending on the finish. Both won the SEC tournament after decades of having not done so. The premier conference in America. Focus on that for a moment.

Each head coach started with a mess on his hands. Each charted a course using good character, commitment to process, strong development.

The older head coach came after being fired by idgits. Nobody ever denied he knew basketball, could develop players well or that he could build a program. They just said he could never win the big one and that it would be hard to recruit to Tennessee. Wrong on the later, to be determined on the former. Look who wins the majority of NC's - older coach led programs. Now NIL has leveled the playing field versus the bag men method. Nobody can deny the program is on its best footing ever. There is a legit shot to get to that first FF or win it all at some point, especially since some of the NCAA's pet former NC winning coaches have retired. Along with the NCAA being defanged as well.

One head coach is younger. He went where everybody he knew said not to go. Some who thought that really believed UT would always be awful and cared that the good young coach would fail. Some knew that if the sleeping giant awoke, their own situations would worsen. We know what happened and will continue as that young coach is loyal to the core and is being handed the keys to the kingdom in return for what he has done for the program and the Vol fan base overall. No point to rehash how little he had to work with in doing it. However, its the stuff legends are made from and is long term.

As a result the players know they have their optimum opportunity to succeed at the next level by being Volunteers in ALL of its sports programs.

IMO, that method is exactly what Heup and staff are doing. They are only in Year 2 and look at what is already happening. Yes - you need the elite players to compete on an elite level consistently. But that does not mean the recruiting service rankings dictate who is elite and who is not. How did the services rank Grant Williams and Drew Gilbert coming out of HS? One became a first round draft choice and is playing a major role for his team in the NBA finals. The other will most likely be a first round choice in this year's draft and remade himself from a pitcher/part time player who had serious health concerns growing up into a premier hitter and fielder with speed in CF. Again, see the two head coaches and programs above. They saw what others did not - the potential and ability to build the system to accommodate those type players. Development first and then be good on game day. As the success builds, the truly elite players will choose to be Vols or have UT in their top 3. Check. It's actually happening early in the process for football compared to the two programs above with the help of NIL and the portal. Heup is doing it the same way. Hendon and Cedrick. Really? A failed, transfer QB from Va Tech and a last minute recruiting class throw-in receiver from Las Vegas with a .8255 rating on 247 - the #1677 prospect and #246 receiver nationally from the non-football state of Nevada. Both being the recruits of Cornbread. Fast forward. If they stay healthy, what round do you predict they will be drafted in next April? Development. See the other two programs above for reference. Heup is doing it the same way. It works.

It's OK, the BVS has been cured. If you are not over it mentally by now you are addicted to fear porn. We owe a debt of gratitude to the leaders of the university for making this happen - Randy, Donde, Danny and the BOT. Same for Spyre and the historically supportive boosters and donors. Most all we owe it to long suffering Vol fans like on here who hung in there through the bad stuff. Hat tip time.

Now, I am going to enjoy this summer like no other in recent memory. My TL;dr posts are done. Off to the beach to play in the sand with our grandchildren and enjoy life. Blessings and good wishes to everybody.
Please just take a vacation - don‘t stay gone. Your posts are informative, rational, and appreciated!

I'll be honest, I think TBA is a piss poor concert venue. I've been to a few shows there, not worth it.

Bijou is my favorite locally, Tennessee Theatre is also great and even Knoxville Civic Auditorium is a better venue. Not been over to the Mill & Mine yet.

So for me I'm not spending big bucks for a show, especially if it's at TBA.
Yeah, it's not great but it holds a lot.

Bijou absolutely has the best sound. It is otherworldly. I remember seeing a bluegrass show there...wow. And Sufjan Stevens...wow. So crisp and intimate there.

The Mill and Mine is a nice venue. Sound is probably good, not great, like 90% of places. The outdoor lawn area is cool and overall I enjoyed it. Saw the Flaming Lips there a few years ago and airbnb'd a 2 bedroom loft in the heart of the old city for a measly $100. Those were the days...

They are supposed to be opening an entertainment venue with some eateries and breweries near the Fountains in M'boro. Excited about having a place for concerts without having to drive to Nashville.
Where in the hail are you? Sparta?

And it's about time for such a sized college town.

Yeah, I've had religious experiences at the Bijou for shows saw Tyler Childers, The Lone Bellow, Erick Baker a few times and others I'm forgetting. Always excellent sound and very few bad seats.

That’s like claiming Heup inherited talent and it wasn’t bc of his coaching…. The year before Saban got there Alabama average 3.5 ypc and allowed 4.0 ypc….. his first year… he avg 4.0 ypc while allowing 3.4 ypc….. in year two it was up to 4.5 ypc while allowing 2.7…. The man is great at developing the trenches…. Just like Heup is great at taking offensive talent and putting them in position to succeed.
I've never said Saban wasn't a good coach. He sure as hell ain't the goat coach you make hime out to be.

He has vastly outalented every team he has played (until UGA this year) since 2008-9...if you think he would have won with equal talent anywhere near like he has...then you are nuts.

I picked the wrong day to get out and trim shrubs. I just about got too hot. I have 5 hollys and a Japanese maple that needed trimming badly though. I always try to do a spring and fall trimming and weather hasn't cooperated lately on my day off.
id wait until < 80°. in fact its best to wait until 10 or 11 pm,
with a headlight and power tools, moran.
