Not under Pruitt. In case you missed it, he was really bad at actually being a HC.

Exactly, which is why he needed to go. Recruiting better, in the manner he and his predecessor did, will win us more games. We're not there yet. This class will be good but it's run out of $team quickly. Good might get us middle of SEC.

Arguably, the only player that left that would have made us a better team last year is Toot. As far as recruiting, we still have a ways to go until we get to the ESP. We have one of the top QBs in the nation committed. We're working on a 5* OT in Mauigoa, and have a good shot at a 5* Edge in Bradley. We're also working on a slew of 4*s. So I'm not sure where you're getting your perspective from? Is it because we lost out on Tate to his dream school?

Lmao yeah the 1 great player...guess Key Lawrence and Crouch would have sat the bench on that stellar defense we had last year.

Man, Weez, given your recent melancholy related to recruiting and the state of the program, it really says something about BOV that you’re the sunshine pumper in the dialogue.

Dude...a lot of them are pretty damn good. Having the main 3-5 back would have won us more games last year and probably this year, we'll see how the newbies are.
The only ones that produced were chandler, HT, and to a smaller extent Crouch….. Gray got benched…. The lineman we lost were benched…. Would they have helped? Sure…. That is not an example of good recruiting though.

I don't think Crouch starts over Banks. If Toot had stayed, our starters would have been Toot and Banks. I'm actually a fan of Lawrence, but remind me again what he did at OU last year? Not much.

I most certainly did not, but to each their own. Eat crow, go cry.

You have been a member on this site for roughly 7.5 years and have ~6400 posts. That works out to a little over 2 posts per day. In the last week you have been posting a lot more for some reason. Is it because you have found something negative for the program that you want to make sure everyone know about so you can try to make everyone as miserable as you? Do us a favor and post less or post in the FF? TIA

People misunderstand when I'm being serious and when I'm being sarcastic. I guess I'm gonna have to start putting warning notices on all my posts.

I try not to be nega, but I also try not to be a pumper. Sometimes you just have to face reality head on. The problem is, people try to warp reality to fit their view.

The idea that this class has run out of steam on the basis of not getting Tate is goofy. Huge recruiting weekend underway now.
I think for some it's not about Tate so much as it's been a while since we've had a big commit. Yes, we got Stallings recently, but most see him as a project player. Our last commit before that was at the end of April when Smith committed. A lot of recruiting confidence is momentum, and our momentum has slowed considerably. People want to see it pick back up.

And I agree, we have a big weekend ahead. If we can land a commitment or two, we have a chance to regain momentum.

I mean, VQ and those services are a mouthpiece for him, they're not going to say anything bad about him. He's done some good but limiting us in NIL would overshadow all of that except retaining Tony. He had no choice on retaining Tony also. He would not feel as welcome here had Tony slipped. I agree he's done some good but he's making huge bucks for an AD, we should expect a lot. His lack of action on Fulkerson getting his face wrecked and blaming fans for OM were not good. Now it seems he's okay being the NCAA wuppin boy. We will see, we just need to keep our expectations high. I know it's rumor/hearsay right now on the NIL but more and more chatter is being had. I think he'll flip the switch quickly under pressure. I'm leaving it here on DW/Donde. I have to let it play out now but they work for our dollars and support, not vice versa.

I imagine there’s a bit a nuance about this whole DW vs Spyre conjecture. Basilio wouldn’t be talking about it if there weren’t something going on, but he’s also prone to exaggeration as well. Today he did say he’s NOT trying to get anyone to mobilize against DW but he does want him to just allow the communication to continue between the coaches and Spyre.

My guess is that DW is trying to create separation between the coaches and Spyre so there’s some plausible deniability if the NCAA gets weird and tries to enforce retroactive rules about how coaches can be involved.

Isn’t that a little bit silly though since we have the third most commitments in the SEC behind Arkansas and Georgia?

No idea why he’s doing it but he certainly is. My repliers can plug their ears and shade their eyes but doesn’t mean it’s not happening. Just sux when we were the ones to really open the flood gates on NIL. Now we’re backing off bc Danny is scared of the NCAA, who has not had teeth for a little while now.

But it's about more than just "in the SEC". On 247, we're sitting at 15th in the composite. There's still a long way to the ESP, but regaining momentum would be nice.

I read every day. Not much to talk about most days. I dropped some info/chatter that I described as hearsay, got bombarded by the usuals bc you can't post anything negative even if true. So I just keep posting to rub in your face that you're soft, and you were wrong. I love the FF line please keep saying it so I'll hang around longer.

Look in the mirror as to who is soft.

I'm so pissed at the NCAA for not fixing the fake injuries. This is a 10-win team if we can run our offense at 100 mph, but everyone that we play is going to fake injuries. Every single drive, probably more than once per drive. Especially on chunk plays.

I've been trying to prepare myself to be frustrated, but I'm going to have a hard time not spiking my remote.
