No coach in the history at UT has been dealt a shitt*er hand than Heup. There's only so much he can do right now till he starts winning big games.

That's one reason I dislike NIL as a way of paying players. It will end up being disruptive for all teams, IMO. NIL is a pretty much a black box in terms of public disclosure, and that lack of disclosure will cause a lot of team discord and ultimately turnover.

Some will point out that boosters paying college athletes has always been a black box, but this is a lot bigger and the results (expensive cars, homes, lifestyles) will be much more obvious to the have nots and their families. Players will question the process and they'll ultimately blame their coaches and even fans for the perceived unfairness.

Every great player we miss on just makes it harder to win later. We are going to have to keep doing it the hard way...developing mostly overlooked/underrated players into great players.

We don't have lunatic billionaires(we do have dumb ones, but they don't care anything about buying players for the Tennessee Volunteers) or infinite oil money barons willing to buy us a team full of superstars, so we are going to have to develop lesser players and hope they don't jump ship for huge money if/when they do get developed.

So give me a break with the rah-rah everythings fine crap...it's ok to be disappointed in what is happening. I'm still here and I still love the Vols, I'm thankful for the guys that want to be Vols.

I use to freak out but after celebrating too many drew Richmond and Wanya type of commitments while being disappointed about lower rated players that made it to the NFL….. just win baby…. Solidify ourselves as the top second tier team….. keep being one of the most exciting teams in football and we will be ready to take on the Alabamas and Georgias of the world.

Yes they can say that about us now. Thus why I said before the season. If we come out and do well that argument will be moot. They definitely play easier opponents. An easier path may be irrelevant by the time this guy is playing football though. The Big10 or SEC will be the only conferences with playoff spots.

They are doing a great job and will only get better. Their approach is also sustainable. Mix in some on-field success and their efforts will yield more results. Lots to be excited for the future even if we lose some high profile recruiting battles over the summer. Land a few good OL, another corner, a LB, a WR and then see who we pull on NSD.....will be a very solid foundational class. We already know they can win 7 or 8 games with a patchwork roster. I is chill.

High school recruiting is only half the battle...to me the portal play of this staff has been impressive. They just have to keep the guys we want from transferring.
