I mean...SEC is gonna be even harder if this all comes out.
Have to wonder if some current members are shown the door...
It’s official. I am old. I don’t like change.
Original members from 1932 still in conference:
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
LSU
Mississippi
Mississippi State
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
Joined in 1991: Arkansas & South Carolina
Joined in 2012: Texas A&M and Missouri
Joining in 2025: Oklahoma and Texas
Supposedly original members are written in to automatically be accepted back if they desire it as well. Sewanee, Georgia Tech, & Tulane are the only 3 original members not currently in the SEC.
I was happy at the prospect of three set rival games and then the rotation for the balance of 9 games, whereby every SEC team would play each other home-and-away on a regular basis. That is a close to level scheduling as we could get. One side effect of a jumbo conference is going to be Birmingham empowered to assign divisions and the out-of-division games. The dream of everybody playing everybody dies.
They should take the L. No one has any room to complain about annual rivalries. They should be happy they don't have Bama every year. Clemson and Bama would be a tough out for us. . . but, I think Clemson has already begun their decline.Wonder if SCjr decides to go back to ACC with Clemson coming in. Now that loss every year will be a conference loss.
The TV money will be better making it as NFL-like as possible. Division champions. Wild cards. Playoffs. So, I'd bet on that.Maybe...
It'll depend on if the SEC wants to bank on money or not.
Based on pre-covid revenue numbers 10 SEC teams were in the top 20 in total revenue from athletics, add in Texas and Oklahoma and that'll be 12. Vandy, Missouri, and the two Mississippi schools being the only SEC schools outside the top 20 in total revenue from athletics based on the 2018-19 numbers.
And it's a big drop too. of over 25 million from Mississippi state (the 13th ranked of the SEC schools with Texas/OU counting) and Arkansas (the 12th ranked).
That's what I think ESPN and Fox are saying with a shrug.
Time to brush up on your French . Great story.Early this year, I was right behind Yves and his wife at a Target in a suburb of Memphis. I chatted with them for a minute between them speaking French. She had on a UT shirt.
The young female cashier looks at me while I'm checking out and says, "Ok, what did I miss?"
Kinda wish we'd exclude Clemson and watch them wither away into their former state of mediocrity.
I don't really know who carries Big 10, Pac10, and ACC because I really don't follow them. But it was my impression (perhaps incorrect) that Fox had the Big 10 contract and that the Alliance move was a potential bonanza for Fox because the consolidation would be under the Big10 umbrella. But you're right, the others will find a way.Interesting...here is the pecking order of who makes the money of the 4 networks in discussion
Comcast (NBC): $116.4 billion a year in revenue
The Walt Disney Company (ABC/ESPN): $67.4 billion a year in revenue
Paramount Global (CBS): $28.6 billion a year in revenue
Fox Corporation (Fox): $12.9 billion a year in revenue
I wish Sewanee would pull a troll move and hop back in on that clause. Would be hilarious.I mean...SEC is gonna be even harder if this all comes out.

I keep hearing this talk about Clempson diplomas here and I find it bizarre. I never heard anyone in the world saying that! This. I hate those turds! Plus it is too fun to rustle their jimmies about not being in the SEC. I equate their fans to UNC & Vandy fans given they all think their diploma is from an Ivy League school. Unfortunately, they actually have a taste for success unlike UNC/Vandy, which make them more unbearable.
My Carolina, Converse, and Wofford alum friends joke that it's the Cow College of SC. Based on what I have heard its not difficult to get into, and, in my experience is more of a party, social atmosphere.This. I hate those turds! I don’t know what to tell ya ! I just know they think very highly of themselves, and I grew up around them. At the peach bowl in 2004, there was a Clempson fan that was spouting off about how anyone with a degree from UT was an idiot and redneck blah, blah, blah. My dad turned around, grabbed the guy by the collar and threw him up against the wall on the MARTA. Good times.I keep hearing this talk about Clempson diplomas here and I find it bizarre. It is actually pretty difficult to get into these days. I know of some pretty big Clempson donors who’s kids couldn’t get in via grades or handshakes. Also compared to the SEC, it’s no party school. It may have changed since I was in school, but they used to not have a single bar open past midnight. My Carolina, Converse, and Wofford alum friends joke that it's the Cow College of SC.
