Interesting poll results. I’m fairly impressed that we rank as high as we do for a generation of HS students who weren’t in elementary school the last time we won 10 games in a season.

Yep. We've been irrelevant and wandering in the proverbial wilderness for nearly 20 years. Pretty amazing that we're up that high.

Stanford Steve: looking forward to the Pitt-Tenn game Week 2. Opened Tennessee -3 on the road. Tennessee is a team that has caught my eye because Vols have a lot of steam behind them, Hendon Hooker has a lot of steam behind him. Pitt won last year. People like Heupel and the offense, but the line is eye-opening to me. Vols will be dying to avenge that loss.

Bear Chris Fallica: Vols were one of the bigger surprises of last year in my mind, of where they finished vs where people expected them to finish. I would have voted Heupel for SEC COY. Offensively fantastic. Vols will have a lot of people on their bandwagon this year, with a lot of expectations. -3 on the road early, that's a tricky spot.

Steve: with Pitt, think about how Slovis' career has gone, started high but it's been downhill. Tennessee's season total was 7.5 when I checked, but juiced high, so that will get bumped to 8. I'm worried about how fast Tennessee fans get their hopes up, you have to finish.

Steve: the one team that we've been high on every year - I think their over on season win total has come in the past 4 years for us. And this one, I might be leaning to the under this year - The Kentucky Wildcats. I know Levis is another guy that's getting a lot of hype, but you look at everything else that they've lost from last year. I wouldn't touch over 7.5 wins with a 10-foot pole. Lot of respect for Stoops. Wandale is gone, where are they getting those splash plays from now? Levis will have to be way more accurate. They'll obviously have better line play but this Levis thing reminds me of Sam Howell (when they underachieved).

Chapter 1 of when someone sips too much of that orange cool aid, mentions its only this month and we can flip this person or that. Chapter 2 is two or three star kids go to the NFL without comprehending the reality that it's a much smaller percentage of those who go. I can play this game too.
Not nearly as well. I am a proud sunshine pumper. I have said neither of those things.

I do this too (not expecting to get paid for my opinion), but talking about who a team lost is the lowest form of analysis. You see it in almost every two-bit article, but any slug with internet access knows who they lost. It's a lot more difficult, and a lot more relevant, to analyze who teams have coming back. Those are the players who will decide the outcomes this season.

I hate agreeing with a dang stinking dirty dawg. . . but I do. These guys seem like they've forgotten that the players who left were once freshmen, working to get playing time. They act like no other players are gonna step up or they're too lazy to do a little team analysis and pinpoint which players are likely to take the open spot.
