Coming into today
Hunt - 1747 yds, 10 TD
Kamara - 1426 yds, 12 TD
I vote Kamara bc of consistency and the fact he wasnt a starter. Imagine his numbers with more touches 👀
But its close.
Butch factor isnt in play next season. If I had to put money on it I say Shoop sucks and his success had more to do with Franklins current DC. BUT, next year will be definitive imo.
And this is the question, isn't it. Was the suck so strong that it overcame greatness? I look forward to the answer.
Possibly also a legitimate question about whether his system was too complicated for our guys. For all Candy's weaknesses, I'm sure academically they are higher. If he succeeds at MSU, the only conclusion is the suck thing.

Read something on AK's wiki page that I didn't realize. It said that despite only starting 8 games due to sharing the backfield with Hurd, he amassed more than 2,000 yards from scrimmage in his two seasons there. (Those are the stats of a starter).
Now we can debate the whole starter biz but that kinda makes me feel like we've built a bit of myth around AK's use/misuse here. And that includes myself, because despite reading that I still think he should've played more.
If he has 10 yrs he's vested. They just won't let him draw it until he's 62.
State of Alabama's system is actually pretty odd. It's easy to get vested there.
That is crazy though. I am in Tennessee system. If I was vested after 10 years I would already have a new line of work.
True but it's a draw to get people to do jobs that are otherwise underpaid and not very attractive to a lot of folks. I mean imagine being a public school teacher in the state of Alabama? That's a tough job that's underpaid and school systems that are underfunded but that vesting system keeps you there for at least 10 years (attrition among public school teachers is a huge problem everywhere right now - new teachers are fleeing the profession).
By that time you might decide to stay because you've become invested in the community, had a family or whatever but it also opens up the chance for you to leave and go somewhere else that pays more. A lot of states have raised wages to grab teachers from other states.
Either way, it's a win-win. A system that needs it gets some stability while the employee gets an incentive to put 10 years in and the option to leave (but after 10 years many will stay in their jobs).
I wish Tennessee would adopt a system like that
Most teachers are 1 and done. Heck I knew a teacher that didn't even last until fall break. If politicians actually cared about their constituents they'd pour more money into social work.It would be nice, especially since our state politicians get retirement after 1 term in office. Yeah bet most of you didn't know that. You can be state rep, serve one term 2 years in a part-time legislature and get retirement. Even local officials, Mayor, Register of Deeds etc. usually get retirement benefits after 2 terms.
But jobs like teachers, cops, firefighters, etc. could use a system like the 10 year vestment. It would stabilize a lot of jobs and incentivize people to not only take the jobs but stay in them.
Dont include me in the us that complained about S&C. I never thought that argument held water because most of the injuries were just football injuries. S&C cant prevent an OL from diving into our DL ankle type injuries.
Interstingly, I felt like this past year was when S&C had the most impact injury wise. Not because of Rock, but because the previous year and a half came home to roost.
