Grad transfers doing the recommitment dance now. First that QB that was going to Bama flipping to WSU. Now the former notre dame DL flipping from OK to UGA. UGA is over 85 scholarship limit so they must be expecting transfers.

Be interesting to see if any of the UGA transfers are former Pruitt/sherrer/rocker/friend/Lilly recruits that would be worth looking at....although guess it depends on if it's a scrub cut or just a dude wanting more PT

Pat Allen announced he's transferring yesterday. Former 4* OT recruit, but practiced mostly at OG last year I believe. I don't know why he never got traction at UGA, but with two years of eligibility left, somebody will pick him up.

With the new initial counter rules, I'm not a big fan of taking transfers, especially if they only have one year of eligibility, because you can end up short handed down the road. But, like I said previously, our DL is a big ? for 2018. I hope taking Hayes is worth the trade off.

Love her in veep.

There are 800 tennis videos uploaded in the past week on the UT Sports YouTube page and zero highlights or videos related to the O&W game.

Last upload on the actual UT SportsFootball YouTube page was 7 months ago, and it was the Butch Jones Show after the UMass game.

UT AD's PR team crushing it as usual.

Is pat Allen a normal transfer or grad? Seems like he was recruited a while back

On Hayes I think it makes sense for UGA to take him if you are questionable there. Your competing for title so one guy could make a difference. He started every game in a good defense

A current player (starter on offense) has described training as "Daylight and dark" between the 2 staffs. The "quiting" comment didn't start or just happen Saturday. It was an accumulation of the last 3 months.

Some players have been half-assing it for a while. They don't put in the effort to get their bodies in game shape and they take plays off. They're getting ready to get confronted and challenged. Some of the high-potential players haven't taken this well in the past-- and Pruitt is going to be a lot tougher than Butch. He's not going to stroke egos, promise them whatever they want or beg them to stay. If they walk out, I don't see him going after them and talking them back.

It'll be interesting to see how they respond. Either they'll be all-in or all-out-- I don't sense a lot of middle ground with this staff. And that's a good thing, IMO.

I imagine a lot of S&C coaches try to get too creative to stand out. Didn't Vandy have a S&C coach under Mason who had all the players doing yoga before his first season there?

Getting big and strong isn't that complicated of a process. I would imagine the biggest selling point for any S&C coach is their ability to keep the team engaged and focused during the offseason and to not get too far off track with proven lifting programs.

Don't hate on yoga! Lol I have taught yoga to many professional athletes. It's amazing for dynamic recovery, preventing and rehabilitating injuries, and improving focus and balance. If you are in Nashville, come check out one of my classes. Bring a BUNCH of sweat towels and some electrolytes. You'll need them!

I wish guys like JK, AK, DB, North, Malone, and some others could've played under Pruitt rather than Butch. Can you imagine DB in a Pruitt defense!

I don’t see him better as a 3-4 edge rusher.

VFL films is all you need to concern yourself about.

Finally, a football coach.

Diet is insperable from training in terms of muscular and strength development.

Also there is only so much training a person can recover from in a given time period and its surprisingly little in high weight low volume programs. Managing fatigue is a serious deal.

What I'm getting is I would not be surprised if a lack of commitment outside the weight room is more to blame for poor development and as one poster mentioned, the whole thing is mostly symbolic.

I agree with all of this and like Pruitt's approach to this. I just think a lot of these kids probably need this confrontation and want to respond to the challenge because it has been lacking. If they all quit and we have 20 transfers or however many, then good riddance. We'll be better off without them. But until they are gone I'm not gonna assume they won't rise to the challenge. They still have every opportunity to learn how to compete the right way and contribute. I hope they do. But I do tend to be more on the supportive side of the fanatic spectrum so this is just my opinion. I'm not really into bashing kids on the teams I root for. I reserve that for other teams kids. :) I don't think you are bashing any of them either, just liked yer post and wanted to give my thoughts on it.

Yoga is usually better to watch than to do if you know what I mean.

I think Byrd will transfer.

I'm not sure what his deal is. Admittedly, I don't read up as much as I used to but, from what I have read, he seems to be the poster boy for the underachieving CBJ recruits.

I don't think it's a talent issue, maybe it's mental maybe it's something else, but the last staff was adamant that when he came in and was immediately moved to offense that the offensive coaches "stole a first round DB from them."

I specifically remember that quote...

Sooo... let's say 15 guys transfer... just hypothetical as I have no idea who likely will or won't, but does that simply mean we will be 15 guys short of the 85 player limit? How long will it take to get back to the 85 player limit if we can only take 25 players per year?

From a practical standpoint, the 25-player limit ("no exceptions") seems like a big problem.

Not really addressing your question here but, I think 2018's season potential for success hinges on just how many decide to buy-in or transfer over the the next few weeks. There are a few that we could do with it without but, best case scenario for this team is for everyone to get on board...I don't think that will happen but, one can hope.
