Not one of the situations Brillo listed is anything close to what Durant did.

False equivalencies are one of the awful offspring of twitter.

Lebron out scores MJ by a ton in the “good teammate, decent human being” categories.

MJ was a champion but has always had incredibly glaring character flaws that would have slaughtered him in this social media age.

Lebron has character flaws, too. He is incredibly arrogant and condescending. But most superstars are arrogant. MJ, Kobe, LBJ, and even Jerry West were tough to deal with. Not trying to get into a character comparison, but I just don't buy that.

He got to choose where to go and all...but at the time there were some who were skeptical whether he'd ever be able to play again, the Colts were in line to sign the highest rated QB prospect since Peyton, and they weren't about to pay two guys franchise QB money.

Yet he chose Denver much to the chagrin of Vols and Titans fans. Why? Better chance at a ring and it worked out.

I respect and identify with the guy who’s a lifer at a program like Ripken, Marino, or Ewing more than a guy chasing rings, but that doesn’t mean I trash guys for chasing trophies. Hold a prime time “decision” show and I’ll lose more respect for you, but I don’t blame them. They have one career, who am I to trash them?

Do you remember the Titans OL when that went down? They were awful

Apples and oranges. Peyton would have stayed in Indy his entire career if they wanted to keep him. Indy made the decision that they wanted to move on. Plus, the Broncos had not won a title before he joined them.

They won two.

Your Peyton analogy failed. Embrace.

I always wanted a strong team around me. Seems to be working out for Durant, who will retire with rings, whereas Ewing, Malone, and Dan Marino always have those carrots hanging over their heads.

Gimme da rings

Im with you all the way. Im all for player mobility and empowerment. They should do what's best for them. Just like recruiting in college sports.

That’s not the point. Trashing guys for chasing rings is.

He continued his career which was not guaranteed with his medical condition. He picked the best team needing a QB (in his opinion). He didn’t have the option of staying at Indy...or he would’ve. Unlike Durant at Oklahoma. Embrace. :hi:

Listen... I get that this is off topic, and it’s nit everyone’s cup of tea, but this is the off season. There would literally be about 10 posts per day in here if there was no off topic discussion. Yes, it could be moved elsewhere, but we all know the regulars who post in here, and I certainly am not about to go filtering through other forums looking for discussion.

The fact is, this is a “catch all” thread for this forum, that will always default to football when relevant discussion is offered. I personally don’t mind some lively intelligent debate in meaningless subjects such as chocolate and GOAT for whatever sports. It offers a temporary distraction from real world problems and helps to break my day a bit.

If you would prefer a 10 post in a day off season type of thread, you are entitled to your opinion, but it is obvious by the non-personal back and forth volleying that many like to interact, and judging by the mods passivity on the issue, they seem to be fine with it too.

+1

This thread is a free market, and the market decided on the topics. If you don’t like it, suck eggs.

The smooth brains in this thread will never understand that they aren’t changing anyones opinion on MJ & Lebron regardless of whose side their on.
