Everybody loves Raymond is legit comedy with well written characters and jokes. It doesn’t get by with silly, unrealistic, stupid people like the office.

ELR is hilarious because of its realism. Everyone has an old guy like Frank in the family.

There are two shows I could watch all day and never get bored of: The Office and The King of Queens

The KofQ's episode with the painting of Doug and Carrie where her arm is huge and he has tiny hands is one of the best sitcom episodes I've ever seen. Laugh just thinking about it.

Doesn’t matter how well thought out the characters are.... it just isn’t funny.

Old school, but I could watch Andy Griffith all day every day

My personal sentimental favorite right there. Seinfeld though is probably my favorite modern comedy. With it, we have “insert-anything-here nazi,” the Costanza wallet, Jimmy, calzones made popular, and countless other timeless topics.

I'll check it out. Thanks for the heads up. Martin is ticking me off taking so long to finish this.

Rothfuss is taking just as long, which sucks. He’s writing a trilogy and has put out 2 books in 11 years.

My suggestion is to read the two books of tThe Kingkiller Chrinicle, then reread them in conjunction with the Rothfuss TOR reread (written by another sci-fi/fantasy writer named Jo Walton). She inserts some (IMO) shallow opinions in occasionally, but she (and other commenters) point(s) out a lot of the really interesting things Rothfuss inserts into the story that are easy to miss (for example, the main character, who grew up with something akin to wandering minstrels, will sometimes speak in iambic pentameter or couplets when talking to a love interest).

The first time I read them, I really enjoyed the story. After he TOR reread and a simultaneous reread I was able to appreciate just how much thought Rothfuss put into every single line of what he writes.

I watch a lot of nihilistic comedies like Seinfeld, Always Sunny, etc., but I really enjoy watching Andy Griffith from time to time as a change of pace. It almost feels rebellious and edgy in this era of oversaturated "anything goes" comedy.
