Exactly how I feel.
LeBron makes me say "dang that guy's good"
MJ just left me in disbelief and speechless.

It's funny though, when Jordan was still playing, we had all these same kind of guys, always trying to claim the new guy was better. Fortunately, back then, their guy actually had to play Jordan and we all know how that ended. Now that his era is over, it's much easier for these guys to make the claims because their idol will never have to prove it.

Same can be said about jordan proving it in this era [17 years later].

I think these conversations would be progessive if we spoke from "my favorite player" vs "the best/goat".

:good!:

The game was different then. Played different, called different, strategy was different, etc. MJ's game would easily translate to today's game. Karl Malone would have LeBron crying for his mommy.

MJ would be a mix between demar derozen and Russell Westbrook in today’s nba. (Which would be a ridiculously good player) but Any SG that can’t stretch the floor from 3pt ,which Jordan couldn’t ,wouldn’t have to adjust their game.

Lebron game is based on getting to the rim, pick and roll / transition and passing. He will occasionally settle for 3pt but he plays so similar to magic so saying his game wouldn’t translate doesn’t make sense to me. Imagine if lebron actually got to use his hands and be grabby on defense like players of Jordan could.

Lol. I knew that's what you were doing.. just had to smh..

Real question

Was the league more watered down when MJ played or Bron?

Both are the best in there collective Era. That’s all we can say.

If you don’t use stats I’m assuming there is no way you think that Peyton is the best QB ever because the lebron/Jordan argument is very very similar to Peyton/ Brady

Hot take: as much as it pains me to admit, Brady is better

Brady > Peyton
Jordan > LeBron

I never said Jordan wasn’t good defensively. I said having Rodman and Pippin made things a lot easier. Nothing I’ve said is asinine. I’m fine with people disagreeing with me. It’s a close call, but all in all I think LBJ is better.

How many years was Rodman on the team with Jordan? Do you even know??

I remember I thought Mike Tyson was better than Ali. Then I actually went and did my research.

Lbj lovers always pull out all the stats and try to use them to prop him up. What’s funny is when they try to discount what Jordan did.

For those of us who saw both we know what we saw. Lebron is awesome. Jordan was better.

It’s funny how the stats (every one minus ppg) don’t support the Jordan narrative. Not discounting Jordan at all. Hell I still watch Space Jam. All around difference making, I think you put LBJ out there with those Bulls he wins 6-8 titles as well (the lost Jordan years). But Jordan never carried a team by himself the way Lebron has. Yes he got bounced from the playoffs in the first round a few times without Pippin but he never carried a garbage team to the finals like Lebron did early Cleveland and the way he did with Mosgov and Delly as his next best players. The overall impact is greater. I’m done now. PS to the guy who said Kobe v MJ argument is better, go to bed.

Basketball and football aren't remotely close. There really isnt a GOAT when it comes to QBs. Football relies way too much on many other players. OL, WR, RB. Basketball is a little easier because there only 5 players on the court.

If LBJ played when MJ did, there is a good chance he wouldnt be as good. The players were much more physical back then. Now if you drive to the hole and someone taps your arm, its a foul. Under todays rules, MJ would likely have records that would never be touched.

There is NO MJ and LBJ debate. The best LBJ can ever hope to achieve is #2. Even thats going to be tough. But he is definitely a top 5 all time player.

All the people that seen both, grew up with jordan. He was their (sports) idol/hero etc. The nba marketed the hell outta of jordan to grow their brand, in essence he is all the people seen when it came to nba. That resulted in this obsessed love by the public (mythical creature) that nobody could ever be better. Now, you have bron, that is pushing back on that traditional generational thinking. No matter what bron has done, would have done, or will do, a lot of the older generation will side with their childhood/manhood/womanhood sports idol (jordan).

You realize there was REALLY good basketball before Jordan right?? And REALLY good players? And people who watched basketball before Jordan?

That is the reason the nba had a huge decline in viewership. The nba made themselves about jordan. They were too Jordan dependent (thats why his shoes are still selling, the nba marketing was the best). Now, we have a plethora of stars the nba can market to sell their brand.

Or the basketball being played started sucking......

Basketball is a team sport, just like football. Your first paragraph is contradictory.

Second paragraph is purely hypothetical.

Thirdly, "the best LBJ can ever hope to achieve is #2," shows you are too biased to look at it logically.

Lol so you saying the aba and nba reach and exposure in the 90's was the same as the 80's, 70's, 60's?

My point was never how good Jordan was, it was the exposure the nba did around jordan. I personally talked to david stern about it.
