Lol so you saying the aba and nba reach and exposure in the 90's was the same as the 80's, 70's, 60's?

My point was never how good Jordan was, it was the exposure the nba did around jordan. I personally talked to david stern about it.

I’m saying some of us were alive and watching basketball before MJ came along and our entire perception of the game wasn’t formed by watching him.

You keep saying Rodman propped MJ up. How did he win those 3 and play defense without Rodman??

I never said “propped up”, I said made it easier. In three of Jordan’s premier years he was the third best defender on his team, in all his title years he was at least the second best. It’s not a knock when those two are all time greats. Just a statement that he gets so much credit for being a great defender (and he was) it’s easy to overlook that he never carried the burden of consistently guarding the other best offensive player on the court like Lebron has for 15 straight years.

The best way i can put my view on Lebron and Jordan is that both of them are so much better than anyone else in the conversation. To me it’s like:

Tier 1:Undisputed
Lebron/MJ

Tier 2: league/game changing
Magic, Shaq, Kareem, Wilt

Tier 3: Elite Greats
Bird, Kobe, Duncan, Dirk, Durant

Everytime this subject rehashes the same stats and opinions are said and it gets no where. Some of y’all just need to agree to disagree.

Looking at it statistically or proportionally, the nba's exposure and reach grew exponentially (nationally & globally) in the 90's during the bulls championship runs. The people you are referencing (watching the nba before the internet and live tv) is sooo minute, it pales in comparison.

Real question

Was the league more watered down when MJ played or Bron?

Both are the best in there collective Era. That’s all we can say.

I think the league has always been relatively the same.

~5 title level teams.
~ 15-20Middle of the pick teams
~5 awful teams.

The one interesting thing is the NBA had like 6 expansion teams during Jordan’s career so that’s hard to judge.

I’m not talking about your studies and statistical analysis...... I’m talking about the people that are in THIS thread giving their opinion that have watched a lot more basketball than you young pups.

Oh good, more MJ vs Lebron....

They and the rest of society during that time are a part of the studies and analyses.
Fyi: its not my resesrch, I'm just telling you the conclusions. And watching more basketball doesnt qualify the validity of their opinions over another
