Plus he was running out of the wrong sets his whole time here.

Had he been running downhill out of the I formation for 3 years he probably would have smashed the record.

You don’t have to like him, but you should at least be able to recognize what he did.

Great players don't quit. Simple as that.

I really like the fact that Pruitt and his staff don’t seem to have given up on this season, call it season 0, we’re young, not enough talent, and all. They really seem to be working towards eking out as many wins as possible next season. They really aren’t just trying to get to 6 wins. It’s very refreshing.

How in the hell is that going to hurt the future?

The 19 class size is already small. With every additional grad transfer we take it goes down by 1. I'd much rather play guys like taylor at CB and have him experienced and loaded for bear in the fall of 19 than play some grad transfer and be able to sign as many guys as possible.

Imo we can add 15 grad transfers and we aren't winning more than 8 games. No discernible difference in winning 6 7 or 8 games when it comes to the future.

On the recruiting trail, 8 wins looks way better than 6. It shows the program is turning around quickly and that Pruitt and company are for real. Plus it means we have beaten some of our SEC rivals in year 1, which is not the expected outcome.

Maybe I should rephrase my op. I don't think any amount of grad transfers are worth 2 games difference. Maybe they win us one more game but I am not sold on that either. So in other words I don't think it's worth it to go from 6 wins to 7 or from 7 to 8.

Agree on all that.

Especially the Fitz part. Everyone always likes the strength coach but I'm usually not one of those. I'm buying in on this guy though.

The fact that he is an Olympic/Compound lifts guy caught my attention. Once he referenced Bill Starr I was sold.

Wait, were we doing something besides Olympic lifts with the previous staffs? Cause that's pitiful, if so. Obviously it's good to use some mobility work and all that jazz, but the focus should always start with squats, DL, and cleans.

I would agree with that. Might be why they are looking to add a JC OL instead who will count against the 18 class and has 4 to play 3. Plus, isn’t the 19 class overall a bit down with 20 being the next big recruiting year? Either way I’m sure they have a plan and know what they are doing. 7-8 wins would be great this year.

I'm sure in some capacity, but that is the foundation for him.

Arguing with you is no different than the innocuous bs I’m trying to avoid so this will be the last time I discuss this. There is an off-topic forum and entire forums devoted to the sports you’d like to discuss. I’d rather read about football here. It’s a few link clicks away and literally the exact same thing. You can go there and discuss. Everyone wins. I don’t want to have to sift through to find something relevant to the thread title— herego the point of other forums. You’re not a mod. “Just scroll through if you’re not interested” is the reason why a lot of good posters don’t post anymore. I shouldn’t have to scroll past and have a search party to find something I actually came here to read in the first place.

Its the offseason. There are less than 150-200 posts in here most days right now. There is almost nothing to talk about otherwise. You and the other seven grumps should just get over it. I understand the aggravation during the season, but right now it is just pure pettiness.

The first team Lebron took to the finals was worse than any team Jordan ever played on...and he did it in his 4th season.

The defining greatness of Jordan is that he made his teammates look great just by playing with him. Pippen was a great complementary talent but couldn’t carry that Bulls team that “only” lost Jordan to the Finals in his absence. Horace Grant did his defense and rebounds thing for Orlando...no title. Rodman played for a number of other organizations but got his only titles with teams that had great players (Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars with the Pistons) he could play off of and who had the leadership to assimilate his oddities. He skipped practices with the Bulls and that doesn’t fly without Jordan signing off. Bet Lebron wouldn’t. Luc Longley, John Paxson, Steve Kerr, Will Perdue, Bill Cartwright, Bill Wennington, DICKEY SIMPKINS? All bit players that hang around a roster. The only players that could have been mainstays as PART of a NBA championship roster are Pippen, Toni Kukoc and Rodman. None do it without a generational player like Jordan. And that those names are part of TWO three-peats is another nod to Jordan. And Jordan returned from a BROKEN FOOT and dragged a 30-52 team that boasted Civil War era basketball legends Artis Gilmore and Iceman Gervin into the playoffs against one of the greatest teams in NBA history and threw up 63 (averaged 43) in the second game which still hasn’t been broken. Seen both and know what’s better.

I'd rather my coach want to win as many games as possible every year over making roster excuses three years in.

Wait...do you mean that I'm not going to know exactly how many of our current players have never played at an SEC opponent's stadium, or ridden on a plane, or played when it's 97-degrees outside, etc, etc, etc.

Not sure on the strength of the 19 class. Mainly because we appprently don't think the in state class is very good while we thought it was great a few months back

Yea 7-8 wins would be great but won't define his tenure year. The future is when that comes

Shhhh... No more basketball talk, people are looking for unknown information in the recruiting forum during the boring off-season lol
