Listen... I expect Chryst to be the QB by season's end cause I don't have a lot of faith in JG...
You asked who could possibly be Dobbs on roster, right... JG does have the Dobbs tools... and a more live arm to boot... accuracy? Dunno bout that... Leadership? Definitely not... and it's hard to coach intangibles...
If Chryst starts he cuts off any threat of QB RPO, which with the Coach Joe in-house cuts the playbook by 1/3 from what I've seen of it...
That being said... if the coaches find some way to flay the deer in headlights out of JG, I mean... that's the guy that could put it together and do the Dobbs thing... don't get your hopes up lol
Pure athletic ability he had in spades. Struggled to throw the football consistently. Kinda important for a QB.
Worley>Dobbs -Butch Jones
I'm not saying Worley was better than Dobbs... by ANY stretch of the imagination...
But in a world that our o-line didn't get pushed 5 yards backwards at every position except LG, and wasn't prefaced off fake QB counters that Worley didn't have the legs to run... he could have been good lol
He had decent accuracy and a good arm
Manning
Shuler
Kelly
Dobbs
Clausen
.... yea he's top5 as long as I've been alive... maybe there were better ones in the General Neyland years...
Def not better than Shuler or Kelly tho
Worley could have been really good in an offense that was designed more for his skills imo.
It's not all going to be on a first-year HC, though. Pruitt isn't micromanaging like Butch did. He hired coaches he trusts and he's trusting them to do their jobs without second-guessing their every move. Pruitt will focus more on the defense and let Helton command the offense. So Helton and the QB's ability to run the offense Helton wants will shoulder a lot of the responsibility for how our season goes.

You're the one with your hopes up..not me. I just want JG to get better and be a good QB. Which I think will take more than just a few practices. I think Chryst is a big backup QB, and that is all he is, and I'm glad to have him, but if he is the starter, then watching this offense is going to be like going to the dentist.
I hope JG plays up to some of that potential, and provides some big play spark. I do not think Chryst has the kind of potential JG does. He is a good backup to have on the team imo.
I can get behind that. I think Andy Kelly is one of the more underrated guys in our history.
Shuler was a freak. Cannon for an arm and could run.
I thought about Holloway being higher on my list too.
Casey Clausen was a damn winner.
Chryst can't run, so by default, since he doesn't have that tool, yes... he has less potential...
He's money on short and mid-range less than 25 yards... and he has experience in big games... he's good at reading the line of scrimmage for audibles, making 2nd and 3rd reads, and knows when to check down...
Can JG run a more explosive offense if he plays to his full potential? Yes.
Is Chryst the best QB on the roster if we play tomorrow? Most likely... it isn't going to be pulling teeth... it'll be more like watching Alabama's offense with McCarron before his Senior season... except with a possibly terrible o-line pending Trey Smith's evaluation if none of the unprovens can step up
