Why would they intentionally keep the numbers down?

Because he is probably going to get some PT as a freshman and the coaches probably don't want other teams to know what is going to hit them in the mouth.

Edit: Right now they only know to scheme for guys in about the 200lb range as far as their fronts go. Doubt they are expecting a 220+ bruiser up the middle from us.

I'm always amazed at how bad of a rep Ainge has around here. I get that hes been an idiot and pissed a few off and was associated with some of the end of Fulmers reign but the guys Junior and Senior seasons combined are one of the best two year runs in UT history for Qb production. He also was amazing at getting rid of the ball and not taking sacks or trying to force stuff those years (i know, i know, dumb LSU play when he was younger). As far as just pure pocket QB skills id put him right behind Manning and Schuler and probably even with Clausen if not for Caseys road warrior wins.
SECCG... WR goes Fly Pattern wide ass open no one within 20 yards of him.

Ainge hits DB on slant between the 1 and 3 on his jersey to take the lead. Not one UT WR in the vicinity.

DB runs right at me and Junior in the end zone.

I also blame this heat on Ainge

1) This is as of last year. 2018 hasn't been updated yet. Talent is one thing, S&C and coaching are another. There's no way Carolina leap-frogged us (at least by the mile that Murray is trying to paint), and we may very well be neck and neck with Florida.

2017 College Football Team Talent Composite

2) All this said, even if star-wise we can out-athlete Mizzou/Kentucky/Vandy, let's not paint the same picture with WVU. I remember this board in 2010, comparing the size of our OL to their DL and saying we should push them around easily. Well... we learned then the right scheme can make up for deficiencies in enumerated talent. I think we have a puncher's chance against WVU, but I think we fall 35-27 or something like that, 7-10 points.

3) Was it Bass that pointed out Murray graduated in 2013, and Pruitt was there from 2014-2015? Sorry our hard-nosed defensive coach was mean to your neighborly polite head coach. Maybe there's a reason UGA fans got sick and tired of 10-win seasons under Richt.

4) I'll also trust our other coaches over Murray, too-- Sherrer, Rocker, and Friend. They were there at Georgia with CJP. If he was so terrible to work with, why are they all on the same page here at Tennessee?

5) Drake is dead because Pusha killed him. That's a dope custom sweatshirt that his ghost is wearing though, not that I'd ever get away with wearing it.

6) Florida is going to start out 3-0, drink their own kool-aid, lose here in Neyland, while dropping their next two as well, and will split the second half of their season while trying to figure out how to teach their giraffe of a QB how to throw.

7) I already forgot about Dooley's "wikipedia" offense. That one comment wiped out whatever football smarts I thought the guy still had. I'm now expecting Mizzou to dip a touch this year. 7 wins maximum, and one of them could be their bowl.

7) Not sure if I've stated this before (I'm sure it's been said by others).. Memes aside, the phrase I'm really happy not to be hearing anymore is the whole "improve on yourself, as long as you're better today than you were yesterday" crap.. No, I want our guys to better not only than their former selves, I want them to be better than other teams, too. I know it's on the horizon.

I was sitting in that end zone as well... surrounded by a bunch of LSU fans. Rough moment.

Tend to think the same here. Once Banks gets on the field for the first time, opposing coaches will have an idea of what kind of RB he is. I guess in theory obfuscation could work for WVU week one, but I also kind of doubt that we're going to come out of the gate relying too heavily on Banks.

6'1 211 is good size for a freshman RB. He's only been on campus for like a month and a half. He'll probably end up somewhere in that 225 lb range before he's done here.

Ainge has completely owned this mistake multiple times.

Banks weighed more than 211 in HS and he's bigger now. He benches 400 lbs. He's a physical runner that's going to be hard to bring down.
