Looking at the team talent composite ratings from 247 for our past three seasons suggests that prior to last year under the former staff we'd generally win about 80% of our games where we have a talent advantage.

Our notable losses after 2016 included Dobbs, Hurd, Kamara, & Malone on offense, Barnett, Sutton, & JRM on defense. We've also been pretty injury prone over the last couple of years.

Last year it was extrmely challenging for us to manufacture any offense or to stop the run on defense.

I'm thinking we will have a talent advantage this year in perhaps 9 of our games. WVa last year had a team talent rating between Vandy and Missouri.

I suspect if we don't at least go bowling this year Pruitt may get hammered and go looking for someone to fight.

So 2017 was statistically the most talented roster Butch had? Firing isn't good enough. Most of the last staff should be tried for treason, strapped to a mattress, and burned at the steak.

If you happened to of watched the coaches version of the NC this year, Holgerson was one of the panel coaches. He was talking about bamas defensive scheme, etc., and said he's dreading facing it the first game of the season! Albeit, not the same jimmy and joes, but the scheme is scary!

Apparently he is changing his scheme some this year too. He has been recruiting more TE's including a transfer from Miami, Jovani Haskins (4 star, 6th best TE according to 247 in '16) and hired his first TE coach ever. They are planning on incorporating that a lot more this year.

Because it's been an eventful football week.. Maybe a few things clarified from a roster standpoint... Why not?

Offense:
QB: Guarantano/Chryst -- feeling like we're in good hands regardless, as long as the locker room is together behind the starter.
RB: London/Chandler/Banks -- I like the committee approach. Not a whole lot of credence in a feature back anymore.
(Select packages-- FB: Pope/Blakely -- yes, please and out of the I Formation, too thanks)
WR: Jennings/Callaway/Byrd/Williams/Johnson/Murphy/Palmer -- too much talent there to be subpar. CDJ will have them helping the QB's tremendously.
TE: Wood-Anderson/Wolf -- It'll be nice to see a sixth OL on most plays involving the TE, but I'm also excited to see DWA catch some seams over the middle. Glad Eli knows how to block now.
OL (l-r): Smith/Richmond/Kennedy/Carvin/Hall starting with Tatum/Calbert/RyJohnson/JahJohnson/Tatum backing them up.. Lane well over 300 now, as is Devante Brooks now, right? I'm rooting for Brooks to carve out his niche, because he's worked hard to come back from injury over his HS Sr year, and to transition from TE to OL. Gotta be difficult to do. Don't look now, but our starters may be able to form a competent unit, especially against lower and middling front-sevens.

Defense:
Front Seven:
DL: Gooden/Tuttle/Phillips followed by Emerson/Crosby/Butler?/Bennett? -- We have pieces. I don't know how in shape Alexis Johnson is, and I don't know if we can rely on Deandre Johnson, even though he was a name that seemed to be doing the right things in practice last year. I like our starters here, and hopefully we have enough playable depth to be able to cycle through the 2-deep in a single game.
LB: Kongbo/Peterson/Bituli/Sapp with quality depth in DKJr/Taylor/Ignont/Allen -- I really can't wait to see our pass rush under Sherrer and Rocker.
CB: Alontae Taylor and (am I hearing this correctly?) Bryce Thompson could be starting the WVU game? Really doesn't bode well for depth, but Baylen Buchanan and hopefully Marquill Osborne can pick up some slack
STAR: Abernathy/Shamburger -- Abernathy got a little slower last year, and Shamburger had a game against Bama. This may be switched around by the time we play Mizzou.
S: Warrior/TKJr and a healthy rotation of Theo Jackson, please.

I may have on my orange-tinted glasses here, but it looks like we have some pieces to work with here. I don't buy for a second that Florida and Carolina out-class us when it comes to talent. We should definitely go bowling if our OL and QB play are even marginally better, which I think both are safe to bet on.

I'm not saying XV-Nulla, but I'm not not saying it either.

Malik Gray is a name to watch at Safety as well.

What are the rumors there that we know about?

I know he and Richt got into some arguments are there has been speculation that Pruitt either showed up at Richt’s house hammered or use some fowl language around his family.

And I think everyone knew Pruitt was gunning for that head coach job knowing Richt was on the hot seat.

I don't have any inside information, just stuff gleaned from here in the past few years, but I do remember there were at least two instances talked about. One was a supposed fight that I thought took place on campus. The other was the "drunk call out" that was supposed to have happened at Richt's house.
But I believe the real butthurt regarding Richt was because Pruitt was on staff and declared that the emperor had no clothes on, that the defense was soft and he would not put up with it. I believe it had a lot to do with Richt leaving. A lot of players and fans loved Richt and could not put up with the fact that someone called him out.

People say coach doesn’t like to wear orange. But my son had on checkerboard overalls when we met him yesterday. He told my son he had a pair just like em haha. Wonder if he’ll ever wear them 😂

Lol I dunno but now we know what you look like Bass! If that was you when Pruitt was signing the helmet for the kids. That was awesome and I hope you mold them into die hard UT fans.
